What good store brand alternator

BBB has almost a monopoly on reman rotating electrical. Pick one with the lowest price and best warranty.

Personally, I’ll do a Denso/Bosch reman for cars that had those before a parts store reman. Then, it’s a wash between O’Reilly(Ultima) or AZ(Duralast). Same thing, different box.

That is all I use, but my cars are German, Japanese and Italian....even Ferrari is smart enough to use Nippondenso for their alternators the last 30 years.
Here’s a little tidbit - before Valeo, there was Motorola alternators in Peugeots, Renaults and BMWs… and even buses, tractors and big rigs used Motorola alts. Motorola’s automotive electronics became part of Valeo, Continental and Prestolite.

Unless it is remanufactured by the OEM, it's likely a hit or miss because no shop is going to be using OE parts on things like the diodes or voltage regulators. The only benefit going with a local rebuilder is they can sometimes rebuild it with a higher capacity, or even show you a test curve to prove performance.

Even new parts quality is hard to tell, brand seemingly doesn't matter anymore because everyone is just reboxing each other's product. I would just get something with a lifetime warranty with the caveat that some stores may give you a hard time when you do try to claim that warranty (eg. Napa).
