R-1-2-3-4-5 or N

I use 1st if on level ground or an incline and R if on a decline.

1st if on level ground or an incline, R on a decline (gear opposite the slope). I always set the P-brake too.

Whatever I need for a quick getaway. I usually back in so 1st gear. Ebrake only when necessary.

Just the e-brake on level ground, 1st on a slope nose first, and reverse on slope nose down on the tC per Owners Manual.

Wife's cousin from Germany used to whine to me about leaving the car with just the e-brake because she was always used to starting and going right away. I dropped the habit of first all the time when I woke up one day and still groggy I started the car and forgot it was in first, BAM stall. Felt like a cannon, so after that never again unless necessary.

Ditto. Seems to hold better that way.

N, except extreme cold, where I'll back in to the spot, leave it in 1st so I can start and pull out without straining the linkage to get it into gear. After a short while, the trans is loose and I can drive normally. Some situations call for leaving it in 2nd gear instead, depending on how you need to drive once you're out of the spot.

Parking your car in gear will still allow it to roll if the emergency brake is not applied whether in first or reverse.

Owners manuals tend to state to park car in 1st. My car rolls backwards on a gentle decline in 2nd. i just park in first. No one with kids starts up and goes ill tell you that! Ive parked with it in R and discovered it was messed with on return.
