I don’t know why either. I think it’s a pretty good indicator of the quality and basic properties of the oil.

Because they seem to link it stronger with GM than Dexcool and Dexron perhaps.

Japaneese auto manufacturer's oil spec. is very simple and I like it. The specification was leaked but in case you haven't seen:

"To whom it may concern, please add moly!"

Moly and Boron. I wouldn't turn down any POE, Di-Esters or PAO/AN either.
