What ever happened to the Focus RS engine problems?

I really like the RS but the ride quality would be a bit of a downgrade.

I'm always on the lookout for an ST but I can't make up my mind if I could be happy with FWD. Am I the only one who loses sleep over this?

A hot hatch is too niche of a market here. We have enough space on our roads for giant V8 monster machines.

...yet we all complain about the absurd gas prices leading us to drive 4cyl (or 6) turbo/supercharged engines in everything on four wheels.

Use your own critical reasoning; don't swallow everything professional liars (lawyers) are feeding you...

It was the first site I found with the video. Local media here in Texas covered this story pretty extensively at the time, and GM even admitted they knew about the problem at the time of the first inquiry. They didn't have a good explanation for why they lied. You can Google for more information and more reports on the incident.

Top tip: If your GM breaks due to crappy GM engineering and people die as a result, expect GM to hang you out to dry if you are criminally charged for what they did.

The ignition switch didn't cause her to drive into a tree or be charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

The initial investigation into the above linked accident took place during the period when GM already knew these cheapened switches were defective. Yet they denied it to the local investigators, they denied it in court and they lied this poor woman into jail for manslaughter. Only after the Feds made them fess up to the overall problem did they admit they were at fault - and, as you will see in the article, only reluctantly and at the last minute. She spent a decade on probation and as a convicted felon (with all the nastiness that implies) because GM literally lied under oath.

You like supporting people that do that? I don't.

You can find a case of pretty much every company putting profits ahead of consumers. For instance, the Toyota accelerator coverup, the Nissan scandal, Takata air bags, VW emissions, etc etc...

I had a lightly modified MS3 for 8 years; it was almost fast(0-60 in the low fives) and it handled pretty good as well. Still, I was ready to go back to RWD when I traded it.

They are super fun little cars, and I had zero problems with mine, but they were both bought new. I'd have a bit of trouble buying a used one, as they're often subject to abuse at the hands of 20-somethings before being dumped for the next fastest thing.

I got back into RWD and I hope I never have to own another FWD. That's too much responsibility for two tires, IMO. Spin & wheel hop is mostly what you get from an un-modded ST with factory tires when you try to have fun with it, but it does produce less torque steer than a MS3, so it will at least stay in it's own lane. I'm much more comfortable having the back end step out, than having the front end step away.

Yes, run your VIN on a decoder site and it will tell you where it was produced.

Yup, but none of those companies knowingly lied to police in a homicide investigation. GM did.
