What does GM Synchromesh cross with?

Just to get this straight I want to know if anyone has validated that GM Synchromesh, the stuff sold at the Dealer is actually the same fluid as all these other brands stated by this website.

Quaker State Synchromesh (Quaker State is part of Pennzoil)

AC Delco Synchromesh (part number 89021808).


I've been searching for replacements for Honda MTF in my K20a2 6spd so this stuff came up.

Use the Honda MTF. Other options are Redline MTL and Amsoil MTF.

The used oil analysis on Synchromesh were nothing to brag about. If you plan on 10k intervals, feel free use it.

If you have extra HP, you want the thickest fluid that will allow shifts. I would start with the Amsoil MTF/Redline MTL, and consider blending in a 25-75% MTG/MT90 depending on shift feel.

I'm highly considereing Royal Purple Scynchromax mixed with RP Max-Gear 75W90. I've heard good things about it and it is more readily available than Redline and WAY more available than Amsoil. I'd rather run Amsoil, but I don't like to wait for oils and want something that a typical parts store is going carry.

The car is used for Road Racing, 2004 K20a2 motor is actually in a 95 Civic. It has about 45 more HP than stock. Vette owners seem to like straight RP synchromax so I'm going to give it a try without adding RP Max Gear to start with. I want to flush out the Old BG synchromesh and Lucas Oil Trans Fix additive so after I drive around a bit on the Royal purple with some hard shifts, I'll know if I need the 75W90 mixed in.

I can't wait/risk, I have to hit the track Saturday. Car needs to be ready by 6pm on Friday.. .

Royal Purple should work well. If it doesn't, Amsoil is next in line.
