What do you think - chrome or black?

My '96 Cherokee needs a new front bumper and grille. I am most likely going to be selling it in a few months. I right now it has a black bumper/grille, but I prefer the chrome version. Most people on the jeep board I visit go out of their way to remove all the chrome, I don't quite understand that.

Anyway...what do you guys think is better in terms of resale value?

Here's a pic of mine with the black:

And here's one from ebay with the chrome:

Whichever is more correct for your model.

I think the chrome looks more pimpmobile, but I'm not in the market for a Cherokee, so my opinion doesn't matter.

Generally the stocker looking, the better the resale value, except for wheels, maybe.

If the chrome was standard on a higher level model, then it might help if the potential buyer was aware of that.

All else being equal, if I were in the market for a Cherokee, I would pick your tasteful looking one over the red Wurletzer front end one you showed anyday.

Orygun is a West Coast state, so tacky looking chrome probably won't help. Maybe in Indiana.

It still looks pimp. If the Jeep people are getting rid of it, that should be a clue.

In the big picture, it probably doesn't make a rats arse difference. If the chrome costs much more, then you need to think about it. I don't think chrome is a big draw in Oregon

No, it's all the offroaders that even rip off the "JEEP" badges and replace nice wheels with the $30 black ones. Most people that just want an SUV don't think that way. Also chrome is pretty much the same price.

Just looking for what everyone's opinion is...

i say stick with black. there isn't a lick of chrome on the rest of the truck currently, why should the grill all of a sudden have it? look at the ebay jeep, it has more chrome trim on it besides the grill, the most easily seen is the windshield trim and mirrors.
just my opinion

i'd go for the black. if all the other trim was chrome, then chrome.

black is subtle and understated, doesn't show fingerprints or bugs as much. plus, if you're selling it soon i'd bet the black is cheaper.

just my opinion though. i'm not known for my fashion decisions.
