What do these new garbage icons at the top of my iOS mean?

See the gray dude with the little F icon and the photo landscape image over my WiFi, what is this garbage?

It might be Facebook overlaying something

You're showing a screenshot (??) of a browser window inside another browser window (??).

I had taken a screenshot of facebook to show how functionality had changed and the hidden area of my phone (behind camera) had that strange icon and the WiFi bar was covered up in the screenshot.

Those icons only showed in certain apps and in one case only if I held the phone horizontal.

I found the disappearing / reappearing icons in the screenshot strange
