What differnt Full Syn. vs High mileage Syn?

Hi, guys.
I have been at Walmart to buy engine oil. The 96' Infiniti I30 was used to use M1 but I

would like to change another brand M1 to Valvoline on this time. There were two Full Syn. valvoline oils which are full syn 5w30($5.78/1pt) and High mileage full syn 5w30 ($20/5pts) even they have a similar design which are the silver color of a bottle. The only differnce is sticker thing. The Full Syn. is sliver color sticker with the same color bottle, in the other hand the hige mileage full syn. is the red color sticker with the silver bottle. Anyway I bought the high mileage full Syn because of the recommandation of a walmart staff. What differnt are they? Is the normal full syn. better than the high mileage full syn?

If you look up the PDS for both products, you will find that the HM tends to run on the thick side of the weights viscosity range. Also HM oils tend to be blended with more focus on protection than being focused on extreme fuel mileage and or Cat-con poisoning. You also can't forget the seal conditioners most HM oils offer, which help old seals maintain their pliability instead of hardening and weakening. And then there is the extra detergency to keep things clean. If you read enough Auto-RX posts around here, this would be considered a good thing. IMHO, I would say, that yes, HM oils are over-all superior to their normal counter parts.

Yeah like Hammer was saying, Maxlife Full Synthetic is a little thicker than Synpower and is also fortified with extra detergents and seal conditioners.

So would one conclude that the new car oil is of lesser quality due cost or do they have to take away properties to get others?

I'm largely with Hammer, but with a small revision. HM oils tend to be blended without the constraints of CAFE incuded fuel savings. Yes, I really like HM oils and would run them in new or old engines.

I'm running maxlife synthetic in a 07 Sienna with 5000 miles on it. I'll keep this site updated on how things go as the car ages. I just took pictures of the filler cap hole and it looks sparkling clean in there. Will be taking photos over time. Although, being a Toyota, I wouldn't expect any problems.

I also found the Maxlife Synth 5-10W30 to better spec'd for difficult European.

ACEA A3...,Porsche, MB 229.5, BMW LL-04, VW 502

While Synpower 5-10W30 doesn't meet most/any of these.

Does Maxlife Full Synthetic 5w30 now meet BMW LL-04 specifications? Wow. I thought it only met LL-01. This is even better!
