What brand of tire should I buy?

True, but they are less severe than an undersize tire not rated to carry all the weight it should. Also, there is a decent selection of reasonably affordable tires in the size

285/60 is 2.3 inches taller compared to 285/50, so if it rubs against your fenders or suspension components, then you are going nowhere.

I don't want to go taller and I don't mind going wider. I'm at stock height and maybe in the future I will lower it. Thinking about calling swift spring on Monday to see if they have anything for this car. I barely drive this truck so I don't need the tire now though, I was just looking out for options for tire.

Continental, Hankook and then maybe Michelin. Of course it all depends on the individual tire. In warm climates and if you do not drive the car a lot then I would stay away from Michelin. I always had issues with tread separating/cracking in warm climates(FL)... I have replaced Michelin sport tires even though they had almost full treads.
