Hauled 7 loads of gravel this morning and then quit for the weekend. Had to swing my my local John Deere dealer to sign some papers and ended up with something else I don’t need. Not sure if this will get cleaned up and resold or if I’ll use it for a while. Z915E with a Kohler and 933 hours. I should be able to double my money on it if I decide to sell it.

Replaced the O2 sensor on my 92 Cavalier with a new GM replacement. I change these out every 30,000 miles on these OBD1 one wire sensors as a maintenance item. Fuel mileage has slightly dropped lately so it's probably time for a new sensor.

The car also feels like it has a slight miss occasionally. Plugs and wires are not that old and are both AC-Delco. The coils and ICM are fairly new and don't have too many miles since being replaced but they are aftermarket. I still need to do a spark test and will probably hook up the scope on the plug wires to see what things look like.

I also checked the Ohm readings on the injectors and two of them are right at the lowest spec or sometimes goes below it. Spec says 11.8-12.6 ohms at ambient temperature and these two fluctuate between 11.7-11.8. The injectors that are in it are remans that I put in back in 2009 and quite a few miles ago so they may be starting to malfunction mechanically. I ran Chevron Techron through the tank recently with no changes.

2020 Kia Sorento with just 74k miles:
-engine oil change
-tire rotation
-new air filter
-found front right inner CV boot puking grease. No obvious tear so appears to be seeping past the clamp. A very brief web search shows this is a very common problem. Always same mode of failure (no tear) and same location (front right inner). One person in a YT comment said it happened to them at just 60k miles. Still, I think even 74k is embarrassing.

Apparently Kia builds their CVs with gold plated rhodium and platinum because an OEM axle is ~$700 which strikes me as laughable. We'll probably do Trakmotive and I'll blame @The Critic when it fails.

Then 2012 Ram 1500 for my non-profit:
-swapped snows for all terrains
-installed a plus nut and 1/4" bolt in the floor to keep the Husky floor mat in place

Next 2010 Accord with only 72k miles:
-engine oil change
-tire rotation
-diagnosed KS (knock sensor) code as rodent damage. Similar to the Kia axle, this seems to be incredibly common. So common that Honda now wraps the wire in alleged rodent resistant tape complete with illustrations of a mouse crossed out. Anecdotal reports suggest the tape does little to deter rodents
-then I got to do my favorite thing: DISABLE TPMS with a TPMSD module from 9thGENEE. I will say on the 8th gen Accord the TPMS module is WAY UP under the dash and removal is....well, my neck still hurts.

However the second I started the vehicle the TPMS light was off and I'm still smiling. Ding dong the nanny is dead!

Thursday and yesterday worked on getting the engine in the 04 Tahoe. It's all buttoned up except putting the hood on, which I'll do sometime today.

Last weekend went back into the LeSabre in order to remove the upper intake and replace it. Sometime back had done this when changing out the lower intake manifold gaskets and the plastic elbows. However, the egr stove pipe, that came with the new Greyworks intake was the large one. I needed to lathe it down in order to fit the opening. Finally did and changed out the intake which has a metal sleeve so this section doesn't crack and cause water to enter the engine. Shortcoming of the OEM intake.

Swapped the RF half shaft in the '20 Sorento with 74k freedom. Used Import Direct (Trakmotive) because the owner wasn't willing to pay OEM $700.

Really easy job and it went quickly. No vibes on test drive, so good enough I guess

Replaced my babymax 2026 Silverado's factory fuel filter with VSE's fuel system saver. Nothing difficult, but looks good

Just finished my first oil change on our new-to-us Rebadged Honda Minivan (Acura MDX)

Contender for the worst located oil filter in the history of cars. Can't get a filter socket on it with a ratchet (even when all the way on) so you have to use a wrench on the socket. Then it immediately pours out itself upon the subframe. Also these J35s take a ton of oil (5.7 quarts) for a gasoline car. Kirkland oil and PG6412EX filter.

The Oil Life Monitor (OLM) in the dash said the oil had 20% life left. There was 5906 miles on the oil. Seems like it wants me to change the oil in 7500 miles based on our usage, which is reasonable to me (we drive lots of short trips and don't accrue a lot of mileage)

Then I test fitted these wheels (the silver ones) which have some almost-new Vredestein Wintracs, which I bought for my X5 and used for the last two winters. It turns out the Acura uses the same BMW 5x120 and similar offset and diameter. They seem to fit fine even though they are 18" instead of the factory 20" wheels. If I end up using them I will have to get hubcentric rings and different lug nuts. (My Acura came with some studded tires on a second set of OEM wheels, but I hate studs - they chew up your driveway and garage floor!)

These Stupid Useless Vehicles have to have such huge tires, for god knows what reason. Even the 18"s were over a thousand bucks for this set of Vredesteins! The Acura tires are 245/40/20 which I imagine is quite a bit more. I would love to get by without having to buy more tires for a few years.

Charges at 14v and starts right up. Far from done with it. Brush hogged tonight, with all the rain we’ve got the plants are ripe! My allergies are off the wall.

Wow nice! My Grandpa has a 1950 or 1951 8N tractor that I helped him convert to 12 volts about 15 years ago. Still runs today but doesn't get used much. Looks a lot like yours!

Pulled the 545RFE out of the basket case '05 Ram.

I found the notorious front diff bracket. Puzzled, I scratched my head for awhile, then stared blankly into space. Made some caveman grunts, then searched the interweb. Surprisingly little discussion of this bracket, with most people asking about it then disappearing -- I suspect many are afraid to say they cut it and didn't bother replacing/welding it back.

1) One guy says you can rotate the transmission to clear it. I wasn't convinced it would come off the dowels enough, and even if it did I figured removal would be FAR easier than replacement.

2) a couple other guys say to support the motor and remove the engine mount on that side (the bracket goes from bellhousing to front diff to motor mount and is all one piece). On principle alone I was NOT doing this -- Dodge can suck my.....crossmember

I chose option #3 which was the blue wrench. Worked well enough, but they COULD have made this bracket bolt together and still maintained sufficient rigidity. The whole thing seems arguably unnecessary anyway.

I'm curious how more experienced guys deal with this bracket? @clinebarger

Used my pickup and dump trailer in our local spring parade yesterday then ran to my John Deere dealer to pick up the used zero turn I bought. The boss dog rode with me in the parade.

On the way back from that I ran up north of our town to set up a landing zone for a helicopter. There was a terrible ATV accident where a 15yo girl hit a tree. Sadly she did not survive. I’ve never seen a 4 wheeler damaged like this one was.

It poured rain the rest of the afternoon so I serviced and looked over the zero turn to see what all it needed.

Another update. I have discovered that finding the "proper" parts for a Kia can be a chore. Finding the specific fuel pump assembly was, lets just say, a royal pain. It seems that KIA, back then, had a difficult time in deciding just what pump they should use.I used various online catalogs going by his year (his rig is a 1999) but the pump that the catalogs would show were totally different. So, I started to look at other years attempting to find the pump I needed, and started by going earlier. No joy. So I went to newer years and located it in 2001 and newer........

You would be amazed with this one. He listens extremely well and pretty much does whatever is asked of him if he understands what he’s being told. He does completely lose his mind when anyone pulls in the driveway, but considering my parents don’t have a doorbell system it works out great for them.

Did some various task with the 8n.. was going to dig a trench and unearth some tomato seeds but the power take off disengaged and wouldn’t engage back. Fluid was alot lower than I thought, refilled but didn’t help. Repair for another day. Dug out a couple mower deck bending stumps with the mini-ex. Worked on another but its a big one and had to get things picked up and get back home.

On the bright side my ramps are super uber mega kool since I added dimple died bracing

edit: I did not prefill the filter this time and man it sounds bad until it builds oil pressure. I know Freedomworx did some testing and prefilling didn't reduce any wear, but I prefer to prefill just for less psychological damage. I'll be hearing that angry sewing machine in my dreams (nightmares) tonight.....

I saw the ATV accident on the news. Sad situation. We live south of Dade county in Aurora. A friend of mine lives in Dade country near Stockton lake and not far from Greenfield.
