What are you working on today?

Changing both transmission filters on my 21 Altima. Dread that stupid oil warmer filter. I’ll wrestle with a 10mm bolt for an hour only to realize the filter doesn’t need changed when it finally comes off. If I’m still sane afterwards I’ll change the transmissionfer case fluid on my 18 rogue. Because why would Nissan design this to hold more than 10 ounces while getting the snot beat out of it for 10k miles! Afterwards, god willing, I’ll drive both cars and convince myself that they are now new again and then set in a chair drinking beer and cussing engineers for a few hrs.

I got the 06 axle in the 86 F-250 yesterday. Took about 3 hours. I went ahead and painted the rear hangars and part of the frame that was a little more scaly than the rest. I’m nowhere near done painting though and I may choose to have the remainder sand blasted.

I used the 06 springs and bolts, had to drill out the hangars because the newer springs use slightly larger bolts. The 06 seat bar links bolted back into the same holes as the 86 links. I can use the 06 shocks but I need to find a lower right shock mount and swap it for the left one(they are different as the newer has the right shock laying forward and the left backwards in the frame). I need both going forward because there will be a fuel tank behind the axle. If I flip the left shock mount it interferes with the sway bar but if I order a right side it should clear no problem. The worst thing to figure out is the emergency brake cables since the newer axle is vastly different from the old one. I may try to find someone to custom build them.

Got my Scottish buddy hooked on them - he ordered the smoking kit and all …
Actually saves money over his single malt days …
I love me a good ole smoked old fashion. I usually have 1 on Friday and 1 on Saturday because I was good all week... 🤣

Replaced a Mercedes seat belt and pulled the airbag/seatbelt controller and mailed it to be reset.
Some woman I live with dumped a huge drink and killed the belt switches. Two in the buckle, one for the dash light and one for the pre-safe squibs that tighten the belt in an accident. The airbags will still work in an accident, but the car wont retract the seat belts, close the windows & sunroof in an accident, and the dash has a warning the pre-safe is inoperative as soon as you put her in gear. You can't clear the codes with the software I have, so choosing between new Xentry at several hundred $ or sending out for $39 plus $16 two day shipping makes more sense to me.
Hard faults set for accident related safety items can't be cleared except by dealer, some Indies and body shops, and those with Chinese clones of MB software. Makes sense if you have a crashed car, but our accident was a drink on a bumpy road.
And before any comments about drinking and driving, it wasn't alcohol and she was a passenger.

GX460 OEM front brakes and rotors. Have done alot of towing since buying in early 2023 from a used dealer who did I believe a pad slap job. 30k miles later, the rotors have warped. The front inner pad was worn. Probably the easiest brake job I have done aside from a go kart. It was extremely easy to disassemble and reassemble, excellent engineering.

These larger diameter springs did a number on my ancient Branick. I'm afraid it's time to retire this puppy.

It actually popped out which made for two little drops of pee-pee, but I had the nut back on the strut rod when it happened

2013 Highlander Hybrid:
-replace clock spring to restore horn function
Ahh I remember the days when a steering column only contained the important things. A) The steering wheel (a critical part because you were not going anywhere without it) B) The turn signal switch (hopefully with the lever still attached, because it is good etiquette to indicate which direction you are intending to herd your vehicle) C) The all important (and working) horn button to warn others when something has "taken a turn for the worse" (I just had to add that pun). Oh, and fer those old of us to remember (and still have the muscle memory to use it properly, the olde "Three on the tree" Now, some of you younger folk may not know what that was, so ask yer great Grand Pappy. ;)

And the column shifter almost everything had. Cool guys and foreigners had floor shifters and weirdos had buttons on the dash.
No comfort adjustments, no radio controls, no cruise control, no telephone, blah blah blah on the steering wheel. Not even the emergency blinkers button.

Phase 2 of get the Matrix ready to drive to Iowa. Wanted to do the front brakes and struts today but realized that one of the struts that was sent was the incorrect one 🤦. Oh well that will be in the third and final phase.

- Valve Cover Gasket
- seat covers, steering wheel cover, decent set of rubber floor mats for the nasty Midwest winters.
