What are you working on today?

Found the source of the noise on the L84.....#1 intake lifter started to fail/spall, Cam lobe looks similar. It's sad the dealer to try to sell him a new engine, At 76,000 miles this thing is spotless!!!

Got the ISL 90% done. Waiting on a couple more things still (Jake brake sub harness, coolant line for air compressor, turbo drain and 2 low pressure fuel lines). Other than that just have to add the power steering reservoir back on and those previously mentioned things then it’s ready to run.

Got my butt kicked today by a Jeep Wrangler well not kicked too bad but still took longer than I wanted too. Took me forever to figure out how to change the auxiliary battery. And then had to wait on the tire machine to do the flat repair. I hate working on domestic cars more and more ever since I started working on imports lol. It got an oil change and tire rotation too.

Depends on the specific vehicle I guess....It's all nuts & bolts at the end of the day.

Tomorrow lined up for me is a Tacoma tow in the lube techs changed the oil in it and the drain plug came out on the interstate so I have to look and make sure it absolutely needs an engine which it does. At least most likely needs an engine because it’s knocking like a mad man. They might let me do the engine in it they said. I hope they do I want to do one so badly. Haven’t done an engine in a while. Customer drove it about a mile before they stopped because they were in the East River Mountain Tunnel going into West Virginia and they couldn’t stop inside the tunnel.
Missed a chance to get rid of the Aux14 before it leaves them stranded

Still, he's at a dealer. They rarely condone or consider mods. Plus ANY electrical problem for the next five years will be blamed on them: "Ever since you deleted our lawn mower battery....."

I keep a stockpile of the fender clips ever since doing mine. I got the black clips which I guess technically are JK but they look identical to the white JL clips and fit fine.

I do get frustrated by the snap-together-and-break-coming-apart build mentality.....I guess I'm just grumpy

I know, dealerships are known to keep make work projects alive at our expense. And 2 things worse than that wimpy A14 performance;
Where Jeep put it.
The S/S that it supports

My single H7 AGM rocks on - easy to get to - no overpriced baby batteries

Started a 10r80 build side job this morning. This one has CDF drum failure. This one the bushing walked and actually dislodged the seal completely from the shaft it seals against and was stuck inside the drum. The rest of the transmission is in pretty good shape, but going to replace all the clutches and steels anyway, as well as a full seal kit, the torque converter, and the main control. Owner wanted no long term issues. The vehicle is a 2017 F150 with a 3.5 eco-boost 90,000 miles.

Gives me shudders… or makes me twitch!

Matt, if I still had the truck and was anywhere near, I would gladly take you up on it. When that transmission is ON, it is ON in the best way, and I really did like the truck it was in.
Ahh didn’t realized you dumped it! Definitely costly to repair.

This one going to need the WIT P3 planetary also, Sun gear has been grinding a bit on the housing. Other than that and the CDF drum wasn’t too bad. Haven’t pulled all the clutch pistons out yet though that’s the only thing I haven’t gotten a look at, and the OWC. I’ll have to get more pics this weekend when I have another chance to get back at it. All the parts won’t be in until mid next week or so.

New cat on '15 Journey 3.6. I used an Eastern which fit pretty good, although the heat shield mounting points were very questionable. If sheetmetal weren't so malleable it would have been a nightmare.

In another example of gubermint over reach, I couldn't get a 50-state shipped to me. Fortunately the owner lives in NM so I had it shipped to them. Spare me any lecturing about breaking the law as the vehicle resides in and is registered in NM (a whole 8 miles to the South). This was the difference between ~$210 and ~$860. I know the latter is better but they say they're putting the vehicle up for sale.

Cat removed, fortunately Bank 2!!

Photo I forgot to add of the P3 gearset

This is made without a thrust bearing or washer and relies on oil film. You can see how well that works. The WIT gearset has a thrust washer and the housing is made to accept that, to keep end play correct. I’m sure the seal failure in the CDF drum (where this gear set sits) did not help matters.

Nothing crazy for this old guy. Cleared my vole traps, did my hill run, cleaned and parked the 6 horse, hooked up the 3 horse, cleaned the 3500's cabin filter, fixed a snap on my dump pouch, refilled the propane and got the travel trailer ready, put a round bale out and cleaned some paddocks. Then called the shop and found they are running behind working on my Trailblazer.

Oh, and also went to Napa and ordered a front wheel bearing and hub for the 2004 Escape. The Shaeffler and SKF are out of stock and national backorder so Napa brand it is......

The 4 year old battery in my CB900 decided it had had enough abuse, so I picked up a new one while the Mrs. and I were at Menards. I expected to get raked over the coals, but $66 seemed relatively reasonable. I would have waited for one from the web, but I've got an interested party coming to look at it tomorrow morning so time wasn't on my side.
