What are you working on today?

1989 Toyota pickup 22r
Removed intake manifold to find coolant leak. Found the intake to be broken where the heater bypass pipe bolts to the bottom of it. I've got a line on a good lower intake for one of these engines but it'll be after Christmas before I can get out there to pull it.

1966 Ford F100 with the Cleveland
Got the firing order sorted out, made a few adjustments on the carburetor and found a power supply for the electric choke. Starts and runs good now.

Boss checked his inventory list and showed to have a mostly complete 22r core in one of his storage buildings. I checked it out and it had a good lower intake on it. So my day was cleaning that intake and installing it on the 89 Toyota pickup. Got everything together and have no leaks. Also changed the oil after running it and letting the thermostat cycle. Now I'm off through next Wednesday. Merry Christmas everyone.

Installed a tekonsha p3 brake controller on the Lexus GX460. It was extremely simple to install. Gave the Milwaukee 1/2 the full beans on a 10k 2 inch ball on a 10k weight distribution hitch with blue loctite. It might as well be welded on. Heading to the ranch tomorrow for tractor time and xmas activities.

Tekonsha P3 is a very nice controller. Best aftermarket controller ive used.

This is all I do anymore. An 1-1/4" shank is supposed to be 450 ft lbs but I've never found a great way to achieve that, if for no other reason than it's difficult to keep the ball from spinning.

So, I just run it down with my biggest 1/2" impact and lay into it until the socket is no longer rotating AT ALL. I've never had a problem (shrug).

2012 Ram 2500:

Trying to rub/wheel out where some as*h*le 🤬🤬🤬 side swiped my drivers side door this week while parked at the plant for install work. No dents or ding damage but it appears some sort of plastic bumper rubbed/scuffed across the side enough to scratch mainly into clear coat & paint.

The truck is going on twelve years old and have never made more than a windshield chip repair claim on the AAA insurance so don’t want to start making claims now and have the insurance go up unfortunately.

Helped a buddy pick up (5) Cooper 37's for his square body. Four have about 10k miles, one was the spare and never used. They all look near-new. $800

2004 Chevy Express 3500 van 6.0L power steering, hydroboost & return lines replacement. Had to deal with everything coated and dripping in PS fluid just went through so much gloves and wanted to shower immediately afterwards.

Removing old lines. Did one line at a time, hand threading the fittings until all the lines are in place. Removing the P/S reservoir and master cylinder makes it easier to access the fittings off the hydroboost.

New Sunsong lines installed. Check for any interference, tighten down fittings and bleed system. Filled system with Redline PSF.

Put a new battery in our 2005 CRV. It’s been struggling a bit starting in the mornings lately….slow cranking and even would quit cranking really quickly some days, on and off.

Battery voltage was a bit low but seemed good for a day or two after I charged it and did a successful load test. After a few days it would be low again though. Alternator was charging it fine. All wiring seemed in good shape and tight. I tested voltage in various places but ultimately, as I suspected, it seemed to be the battery.

I have traditionally got batteries at Canadian Tire but went for Costco this time - 4 year full replacement, which is hard to beat for the price.

Next up is the front sway bar links. I’ve had more and more bad luck with aftermarket over the last couple of years so will probably go OEM.

Thanks our el Nino weather I decided to do more drain tile work. Was planning on next spring. our el Nino weather I decided to do more drain tile work. Was planning on next spring.

Last Christmas eve it was -10F and a howling 35mph wind. This year it's suppose to hit 60F. That's how you average things out....

Swapped trailer tires between the 12 foot trailer to the new 18 foot trailer. The new trailer has some noname Chinese variants. They work, but the better swapped tires are Carlisle D rated. Tractor helped as a 2nd lift. Will be towing near the limit so I want as much safety as possible.

Friends saw a table like this in a gallery and wanted something similar. It took me so long to get around to it I felt bad and made it a Christmas gift, delivered today.

It'll look better once the wife of the house fills it out with curios/figurines/whatever:

To make it a little more of a Christmas gift I asked my wife to fire up the lathe and make them a few trees today:

Wife's '08 F150: replacing the crappy IVD (Icon) rear shocks that came on the truck w Bilstein 4600s. I have little patience for "boutique" products that don't last. I just need good shocks that work and don't leak prematurely.

If anyone wants these, I think they're rebuildable. Free, you pay shipping. Otherwise they're going to the scrapyard.
