What are you working on today?

That what I have in the 408 above, I was using Bushings when all the Trunnion Roller upgrades didn't have a hardened inner race.
I'm in good company. That's what brought me to this kit vs others.

I did order and try the Summit LS trunnion kit with the bronze bushings. I pressed one set in, straight as can be and had bronze filings... didn't like that. Plus many of the other bronze bushings in the kit had pitting and other defects. I returned that. Not a bad kit but wasn't very pleased.

Fuel injector replacement on a 08 Toyota Corolla 1.8L. Went with GB Remanufacturing 842-12324 Reman Fuel Injectors which came out half the price for brand new OEM injectors. It was the ultimatum for the P0171 code which I've already checked, smoked and replaced everything on the air induction side, which now leaves poor fuel delivery issues (yes I even changed the fuel pump).

Had my first training since I’ve been on the volunteer fire department last night. It was a controlled demolition of an old house. Our role was to keep the fire from spreading to other structures or to grass. Spent a lot of time on the hose and I’m feeling it today.

Today we ran in two local Christmas parades. Decided to switch it up and use the semi instead of the dump truck. Second one was a nighttime parade but I don’t have any pictures handy of the lights we put on the trailer.

Yesterday replaced the rear brakes on my niece’s 2008 Chrysler Town and Country. Three of the pads were reasonably thick enough to go until Spring, but the inner pad on the drivers side was worn to the backing pad.

Twisted the calipers back in with no problem. Put new slide pins and boots on, with fresh brake grease. The only hang up on the project was the right wheel. One lug nut failed, with the chrome cap getting damaged and the nut rounding off. My usual removal sockets are too thick to go into the wells on these wheels, so I had to get a specialty tool: lug nut removal sockets from the Harbor. They are longer and thinner so it went on easier. Within 10 seconds after putting my breaker bar on it, it was coming off. I recommend the set if you run into this problem. My usual removal sockets are better at open access to the rounded bolt head or nut. Installed all new, non-capped lug nuts in place of the bad ones.

Then today, she came back so I could change out the belt, tensioner and idler pulley. After dropping the new set up a few times, I got it to go on by starting a few turns of the bolt, the aligning the pin on the tensioner and it went on… poorly designed setup. Then I tackled swapping the slow performing oxygen sensor pre-cat. Took some fiddling but I got it changed. Cleared codes and rechecked. The code did not return.

She’s pleased so far. I still have a steering angle sensor to likely replace.

Not physical work but PC work. Started browsing through TIS for docs for the Highlander. I did this back in 2016 for the Lexus. Might be a bit more involved now.

Before I start the document downloads, I need to try to remember how I initially organized the files into a pseudo book so that it makes sense when I put it together into a formal .pdf "book". For one thing the links contained within the sections just read, "LINK"; no page reference like the Lexus manuals. Separate notes will be needed.

Fortunately, I kept my old Win7 PC so I can still use Acrobat X Pro to manipulate the pages and redefine the links.

Other than the repair and other info, this exercise will keep my old brain busy if nothing else.

'98 CRV for one of our volunteers:
-oil change
-new wipers
-bled cutch
-FVP CV Axle installed June '22 already splitting outer boot. Cheap CV's don't pay!! Warrantied thru RA for now -- not sure how much longer the vehicle will live.
-FINALLY found a clunk that has foiled me for YEARS! It was the LH sway bar link but you can't check these things on the lift because they're bound up. Finally got smart and tapped the sway bar while weighted and it was obvious. Replaced the link and it's quiet!!

2013 Ford F-150
Replaced front brake rotors and pads, replaced left front brake caliper and hose, replaced rear brake pads, rotated tires changed oil

2013 Ram 1500
Rotated tires, replaced air filter, changed oil

After putting up the Christmas lights on the house, I swapped the dealer license plate frames for generic Autozone chrome frames on the Highlander. I'm not getting paid to advertise for them.

I usually changed mine. My current (and last unless they go out of business) dealer is so superior I am happy to have their frames and recommend them whenever appropriate. I wish I'd found them a couple dozen car purchases earlier.

2015 Chevrolet Trax 1.4 turbo 4 cylinder
Replaced spark plugs and ignition coil, replaced air filter, rotated tires and changed oil

2014 Ford Escape
Salvage vehicle
Replaced right from lower control arm, right front CV axle and right front tie rod

2016 Camaro SS, LT1/8L90E. DTC's P0700 in ECM & P16F3 in TCM, (Control Module Redundant Memory Performance)

Tried reprogramming the TCM first, But P16F3 returned, Ended up having to replace & program a new TCM. The TCM sure is in a bad spot.....On the right frame rail right behind the Auxiliary Radiator (red arrow).

GM's Techline Connect "TLC" was being extra finicky this morning, First I had trouble logging into ACDelco's Technical Delivery System "TDS" which was a Browser issue, Then TLC kept stalling when launched, Ended up deleting all the TLC software & starting over.

Of coarse the 8L90E is suffering with shudder issues because the ATF is spent or it never had the updated Dexron HP ATF installed. Unfortunately it's screwing with the relearn a little bit, Customer declined having me exchange the ATF. I'll have to put a couple more drive cycles on it in the morning.

8L90E's shift like crap in the first place.....Add in spent/incorrect ATF, A Relearn, And a kid that can't afford to maintain this kind of car makes for an interesting day!!

I ran into the same thing on my friend's Sonic a few months ago. The clunk sounded like a stabilizer-bar end link, but I couldn't find any play with either side jacked up. Finally ran it up on ramps, slid under, and found the guilty one quickly.
