What are you working on today?

'98 CRV for one of our volunteers:
-oil change
-new wipers
-bled cutch
-FVP CV Axle installed June '22 already splitting outer boot. Cheap CV's don't pay!! Warrantied thru RA for now -- not sure how much longer the vehicle will live.
-FINALLY found a clunk that has foiled me for YEARS! It was the LH sway bar link but you can't check these things on the lift because they're bound up. Finally got smart and tapped the sway bar while weighted and it was obvious. Replaced the link and it's quiet!!
How do you bleed the clutch? I have a 2005 CRV I'd like to do this on. No specific problems but the fluid is fairly dark and I wouldn't mind getting some fresh stuff in there....

Hauled 5 loads of rock for the county and spent some time in a friends crawlspace tying in lines for a water softener (all this before work on second shift). Wanted to make this post to cheer up those of you who had a bad day or also did something stupid.

Today, on the last load, leaving a stop sign at an intersection the dump truck cut out a couple times. Something it's never done before. All was back to normal before I really even realized what had happened. Continued on a few more miles normally and it started doing it again, this time to the point of dying at highway speed with 19.6 tons in the bed. I coasted as far as I could and once stopped attempted to restart-nothing. Crank but no hit, popped off fine on a sniff of starting fluid. Called my dad who was nearby to bring a set of fuel filters. Pulled the primary and it was empty.....pulled the secondary......also empty. Here I am scratching my head and finally it hits me-I ran OUT OF FUEL. You see, I stop at the station nearly every morning depending on where I'm going and while the pump runs I go in and get breakfast. The pump clicks at full and were done. What happens when the pump shuts off before it's full you ask? Well it's never happened before so I never thought to check the level in the tank after fueling and the gauge never has been trustworthy. I run 300-320 miles on each tank but today I had enough to run 233 miles . So, after 2 hours of getting fuel and bleeding it out in the highway we were back in business.

If you read this far, please have a laugh at my expense. Hopefully I'll be in a laughing mood tomorrow.

You're right....My day wasn't that bad!

2016 Camaro SS, LT1/8L90E. DTC's P0700 in ECM & P16F3 in TCM, (Control Module Redundant Memory Performance)

Tried reprogramming the TCM first, But P16F3 returned, Ended up having to replace & program a new TCM. The TCM sure is in a bad spot.....On the right frame rail right behind the Auxiliary Radiator (red arrow).

GM's Techline Connect "TLC" was being extra finicky this morning, First I had trouble logging into ACDelco's Technical Delivery System "TDS" which was a Browser issue, Then TLC kept stalling when launched, Ended up deleting all the TLC software & starting over.

Of coarse the 8L90E is suffering with shudder issues because the ATF is spent or it never had the updated Dexron HP ATF installed. Unfortunately it's screwing with the relearn a little bit, Customer declined having me exchange the ATF. I'll have to put a couple more drive cycles on it in the morning.

8L90E's shift like crap in the first place.....Add in spent/incorrect ATF, A Relearn, And a kid that can't afford to maintain this kind of car makes for an interesting day!!

Guess he'll be back soon enough with a spanked converter.

Bought 6 new plugs and 2 coils for the Flex, she is running great but has the tiniest miss at coasting speeds. Hope to get them installed this weekend. Cannot remember if I have ever changed the plugs, bought the car in 2013 with 45k miles, she now has 141k.

On the 2.0 in the first gen the bleeder is right up front. Easiest to just pop the hood and come at it from the top. On this clutch just gravity bleeding seems to produce a terrible pedal. I have a helper depress the pedal then crack the bleeder, close, release pedal, repeat.

I'm not sure where the bleeder is exactly on your '05 as it's the next gen.

And you're probably ahead to get a fluid extractor or turkey baster and suck what you can from the reservoir and refill with fresh before beginning.

If it's at all like the first gen it's a simple affair requiring no specialty tools and you don't even need a jack or ramps or anything. Just an 8mm wrench, bottle of DOT3 and maybe a helper.

Worked on the Kubota BX2350 last night. Cleaned the block cylinder head threads with a tap as they were pretty rusted/gunked up. Bolted it up this morning. Now its a bunch of little things to bolt back up.

Takes a man comfortable with himself to post such on the internet. Agree that the fueling pump stopped without you knowing it and before the tank was filled. Lesson learned and no blood spilled, so a good day in all. 😀

Cleaned a mouse nest off the wife's 5.4 3V. It desperately needs shocks so she's mostly been driving our JL when she doesn't need a truck bed

edit: the great irony is that our mouser cat is a dark gray longhair and sheds like crazy -- there was TONS of cat hair in the nest

He called this mourning wanting me to exchange the ATF, Did some research & found out I wasn't BS'ing him.

Ran 24 quarts of Dexron HP trough it, Yes, The Trans Cooler Lines run back to the Rear Differential.....Makes for a pretty easy break point!

Took it for another 15 mile test drive, Night & day difference!!

Replacing rotor rings on the Sportwagen. 350x34mm. Had to wait 2 mos. for these...came from South Africa. Old ones are at 32mm the min. thickness....probably fine for a while but why chance it? After this all set for HPDE at VIR this weekend. Needed this high-temp Loctite...ordered last night on Amazon...delivered at 7am today. Amazing.

On a roll last night with the BX2350. The engine, radiator and HST is buttoned up last night and with fluids. In the final run I was cobbling a few things together, used a vacuum plug on the radiator drain, and an AC delco hose will be my intake for a short while. It will breathe fresh air until I cobble together a real hose to the filter, or order the OEM parts.

Now i'm being held back by the several safety switches. I hear the fuel pump clicking, fuel solenoid seems to be working. Checking all sorts of things, operators manual and hitting the forums.

My HST won't start if it even thinks the foot rocker isn't in N. Dunno if yours is HST?

I expect to hear all about your time at VIR when you are finished. Have you done the HPDE before?

Seeing as the John Deere 318G was still on warranty, we had the mechanic do a field call to figure out the wheel speed codes and choppy operation. Inwas at work and got a few phone calls from the guy, explaining what he was doing in response to the issues I had found. Sounded like it was all good but turns out my wife was cracking the whip and making sure he dug deep and figured it out.

A couple issues were found. The hydraulic oil may be nearing its wear limit, causing drive issues. Could be, factory fill with 830 hours thats supposed to be changed at 1000.

Required several updates for the hydro controls.

One wheel speed sensor was out of calibration.

So, I will take it for rip today, put some bales out and see how she runs. Hopefully less surge and choppy controls.
