What are you working on today?

The goal today was to pull the Heads & Camshafts to make sure the heads can be rebuilt, Mission accomplished & the heads are at the machine shop.

Didn't know GT500 heads have different Intake Lash Adjusters than any Modular Ford I've ever seen. The Exhaust Adjusters look standard Modular.

I love this project of yours! Oddly enough, about a year ago I found myself in the same position as you: I was tasked with removing the drivetrain from a smooshed Saleen so the body shop could weld in new frame extensions. Even though the shop already had the front stripped down to basically bare unibody, I still chose to drop everything out the bottom.

My example had long tubes as well, I just removed everything behind them. Pulled the driveshaft, supported everything, and lifted the body straight up. Now, I still had to have a roller when I was done, so the engine had to be separated from the K-member, which I then reinstalled. When I got the car back, they had done all the work except for the core support. I specifically asked the guy working on it whether it mattered if the engine was installed RE: core support installation. There wasn't, so I had a wide open work area when dropping the body back down.

Awesome work, my friend.

Blew up my 2013 gmc denali transfer case the other day.
Towed it to the shop , and the mechanic said he will find a junkyard replacement 😔

Wow, 2nd cylinder there doesn't look too happy eh?

Replaced the steer axle tires on my company flatbed truck. As an extra bonus they were pre-mounted on aluminum wheels so it's a nice upgrade from rusty steel wheels.
Kelly Armorsteel KRH's it's a good enough tire.

#6 looks to be burning a lot of oil. #1 connecting rod broke at big end & locked the engine down with no other damage to the heads than both #1 intake valves being bent. The crowns of all the pistons look burnt. Guessing they were pushing the car with a oversped' Blower pushing a bunch of hot air?

If you dont mind me asking what do they charge to redo the heads, here they want almost the same price as a new bare OE head. Machine work is getting crazy.

Finished the Yukon yesterday morning. Then did all four shocks on a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, turned the front rotors, replaced the front pads and changed the oil. Today I've got two brake jobs waiting on me, a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country and a 2009 Tahoe.

Sounds about right, lol.

Yes, that's what I was observing, the one cylinder was clearly burning oil. On the connecting rod bit, what kind of rods are in this engine? I remember the 03/04 Cobras had some wickedly strong OE rods, might have been H-beam?

They're charging right at $1,000 with me supplying the Valve Springs & Valve Guide Seals.......Valve job, 2 new valves, Surface, Pressure test.

Good deal considering these heads are $2000 a piece new.

These are Powdered Forged crack cap I-beam rods, Weird to see on a engine with a Forged Steel Crank & Billet Main Caps.
It'll be alright as everything is returning to stock besides the long tubes & exhaust.

Looking at a small cement job me & my wife did for a relative, I just put a small ramp going down at the end of her porch that is being built, I didn't have a finishing trowel on me at the time, if you look to the right at the bottom of the picture you can see the one I threw together real quick for the job, worked out pretty good.⚔️

I would have thought that engine makes too much HP for powder metals. IIRC when first introduced the limit was around 500 HP. Possible reason one broke?
1K is really fair for both heads, heck compared to up here that is a very low price even for the crap work they are doing..
