What are you working on today?

Work I have been procrastinating for several weeks.
BMW’s have integrated micro fikter in power steering reservoir. Once there is tiny leak out of reservoir cap, means filter is due to replacement. However, it is part of reservoir, so reservoir needs to be changed. ZF OE reservoir, $32 and lots of paper towels.

Put a battery in a 2020 Hyundai Accent.

Then after lunch did a pm on a 2019 Toyota Corolla for friend/co worker. Turns out it needed a battery bad also. Did the oil change free for her; told her to drive car to my place. Put a AutoZone gold battery in it, and all is well. I did last oil change on the Corolla for her; used M1 0w20 AFE and Puro Boss 14476. So the filter has 10k on it. Will cut and post it shortly 🇺🇸🇨🇦

Son's Focus tail lights were condensing from somewhere that I could see. Used some silicone and put a bead around the perimeter of both lights. Will see if that holds up or a trip to the junkyard is warranted.

Why a new battery for '20 Accent ? Look forward to more oil filter surgical procedures . Should open up clinics 🏥. Would bring my oil filters in for exams and exploratory surgery 👨‍⚕️ . Have a few in the barn .

Jumped multiple times in its life and battery tester sad “bad battery, 9.6 volts: replace”

well, what I thought would be an easy job to change the starter on my snow blower turned into a fluster cluck. I broke the axle nut off trying to get the axle out to change the friction disk. A new axle was $55 and 2 weeks out, so I decided to drill and tap for a 3/8" bolt instead of replacing the axle. So a ~15 minute job turned into about an 1-1/2 hour job but now the Snow King is ready for winter!

just my $0.02

Patched my dads car tire today. Had a bolt in it 😡. About a month ago it lost air and he had to fill it up is what he said. I didn’t know anything about it then came out today after breakfast and it was flat again so I got the jack and raised it up, heard air leaking then found this. If we had went to a shop if we weren’t able to do it we would of had to get a new tire so thankfully I can fix it. I know people say don’t plug tires but honestly I haven’t had one fail on me yet I have one in my truck from 2019 and I’ve done plenty of family and friends cars. These tires still have life left too 6/32. The reason it is considered non patchable is because it was on the inner bar part of the tire if that’s what you call it. And the reason for using anti seize is because it was seized on the hub had to pry and kick it off.

I know around here no one plugs a tire. Especially since I’ve saw what happens when the plug falls out. My work doesn’t let us use plugs at all. A patch is way safer. Plugging a tire: if you do it and it fails; you own it

Yes and I understand that. My shop doesn’t allow them to be plugged either. We will patch or use one of the plug patches on it with the needle like part that goes from the inside of the tire out. I may patch it eventually just had to get it going for now.

I changed the oil and filter in my mom's 1999 Buick LeSabre. I used a Walmart ST filter and synthetic 10W30 ST full synthetic oil. I changed the oil and filter 2 years ago. The car is extremely short tripped and the engine had some evidence of sludge when I checked the oil fill hole. She is almost 92 years old and drives it about 2 or 3 miles and goes in for appointments or groceries and drives it back home. Going to change it every year the but kids might just sell it because she won't be driving much longer unfortunately. The car has quite a bit of rust underneath but has only 89,000 actual miles on it. I waxed the car with my DeWalt power cordless polisher. I used bleach white on the tires and put armor all on them as well. I vacuumed the interior and put a leather seat conditioner on the seats. I also high pressure washed the wheels with my pressure washer. I also cleaned the windows and put armor all on the dash and door panels etc. The car looked amazing except for it's rusted out on the rocker panels. I then backed it off my ramps and the brakes felt weird and the pedal went halfway to the floor. I took the car to her house with the brake warning light on and making a ding ding ding warning noise. Luckily she has a neighbor that specializes in brake jobs and he installed 4 new lines and a new muffler. If it wasn't for the rust this car would run a long time however living in the rust belt it has definitely taken a toll unfortunately. My mom was happy the car looked so good and when I pick it up again from the mechanic's shop in a couple days it will sound so much better with the new muffler.

Changed both the front and rear diffs and the transfer case fluids on my truck yesterday. Rolling around on the garage floor for a couple of hours. Boy is my body aching today! Getting old sucks LOL!
