What are you working on today?

Changed the frame and engine mount diesel fuel filters in a Freightliner Cummins ISB 6.7L. Neat thing about the Davco 243 is the ability to monitor filter restriction based on the height of the fuel shown on the clear cover. Once the fuel level reaches the black mark it means the media is fully loaded and is about to go into bypass. Fuel was going way past the black mark and who knows when it was last changed so used my lunch break to change the filters.

Replaced a steering box on a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, as well as the power steering hoses, and changed the oil. Also replaced the belt, tensioner and one idler pulley on a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu and changed the oil. Now I'm relaxing listening to 60's gold on the TV.

I flushed out a heater core on a 1994 Chevrolet S10 and replaced an oil pressure sensor on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala.

Serviced the Bendix A-DIP air dryer with new filter and purge valve.

Our trucking company gets steep discounts with a local NAPA nearby. Company gets billed on the parts and I get to wrench on trucks on company time.

Today I replaced the valve cover gasket, 2 ignition coils, and all the spark plugs on a 2010 Ford Focus four cylinder. Also changed the oil.

Well after doing a wheel hub assembly on a ‘16 Hyundai Sonata this morning (no pics), I decided to tackle a serious detail job on a Chrysler Town and Country that we purchased at an auction last week.
I think it was repo’d because the people starved to death,….nothing they were eating made it into their mouth, it ended up in the floor. 🤔
Sometimes the only way to clean it right is to gut it.

My 2004 Sienna is like that with food crumbs all over, I just vacuumed it for now thinking I would get the rest later by blowing it out with compressed air, later is not here yet and I am parking it out of the rust belt for winter so the mice may get a treat if they can get in it. Rest of the story is probably pretty common, parent drives new van for many years than gives it to their kid, who neglects it as free stuff is usually never fully appreciated, dealer takes it in on trade, cheapskate shade tree mechanic tries to buy as cheap as possible being the drip at the rear of the motor is known to all who look there.

Finding the gas additive Star Tron Enzyme for the lawnmower/snowblower gas can is about all I was working on today, neighbor cleaned the end of the driveway so I had just enough gas to do the rest, but I am not going anywhere being the roads will be wet and sloppy-est today and after cleaning the snow I am sure to reward myself with effortless task for the most part.

Your post reminded me of a good YouTube dent repair video of the tear down on a Buick SUV, worth watching for those of us who might get into this kind of cleaning or maintenance repair.

Installing new headlight assembly on both driver & passenger side for a friend of mines 2006 Chevy Impala. Just got finished watching the video on You Tube and looks super easy -- lets hope so...

2011 F150 163k miles 3.5 EB engine. Customer from my dealership days that I still do maintenance and most repairs for.

Oil change, tire rotate, coolant flush, transfer case service, repair a fuel door hinge, spark plugs and coil boots.

Put yellow Lamin-X film on the fog lights on my TL. Hope driving in snow will be easier with yellow fogs on. Downside while doing this task? My driver side turn signal housing took a rock hit past week that I didn't notice and there is a nice nickle sized hole and spider cracks all around it. Another job for next weekend.

What started yesterday as upgrading to a 13-14 GT-500 cooling fan, ended up as a lot deeper project. I was trying to sneak the fan out without leaking any coolant. I accidently nicked the T shaped hose that connects to the t-stat and upper rad hose and it started leaking. I was planning on doing a water pump as some point since they are known to leak on Coyotes. Replaced the water pump, converted the AC belt to a regular style belt with tensioner, changed the t-stat and of course the GT-500 fan assembly.

Yesterday, I helped a friend wrestle a 4R70W out of his F-150 - he was wondering why he can’t get the fuel lines and transmission vent lined up. The brackets for one was right, the other was off by two bolt holes. We got it back in after a few beers and a lot of cussing.

Today - checked the oil on the Prius.

1999 Oldsmobile Alero. Driver's power window would not roll down. Suspected switch. So I removed the door panel and switch and tested it. Switch was fine. So then I removed the power window motor, and while keeping it plugged in electrically, but not attached to the window regulator, it seemed to work fine. At that point, I manually opened the window all the way (by pushing it down). I then used the auto feature on the window and waited for the motor to stop spinning. Reassembled everything and it's working now, without really repairing anything.

Also had issue with a 2000 Camry drivers door jamb switch. Seemed to work better with a few layers of built up electrical tape to push the switch in more. Not necessarily expecting that fix to last, but who knows.

Finally checked the valve clearance on the WR450, first time since buying it in Aug 2020, all valves still in spec at 142 hours run time. Yamaha reliability.
