YOU FOUND ONE IN A MANUAL AND IT STILL RUNS WITH A STRAIGHT BODY???? BEST CAR EVER!!!

I want one. It’s beautiful.

Going to install the new OEM BMW battery in my 535d when my OBD2 Bluetooth adapter arrives on Thursday. Using Bimmerlink to register the new battery (same CCA, AH, etc. as original battery).

Dumped a bottle of S-1 into the X3's gas tank. Pumped up the tires on everything because the temps went from highs in the 50s F to the mid 20s F over the weekend. That dramatic temp change really dropped the tire pressures to mushy city.

My friend’s Camry has brake squealing. Sigh. I did the work and used akebono proACT pads, specifically because they tend to be squeak free. I’ll look at the car in a week or two, not sure what I’ll do since i installed them with the grease and anti-squeal goop already. The previous brakes came from a budget shop with “lifetime warranty” and I’m curious about the rotors they installed - they were still “new” when I changed the pads (they were awful, the car simply didn’t want to stop with them, at all), and used a belt sander to rough up the rotors for a new bedding surface. May pick up a pair of quietcast rotors and go with them.
Some of those are just super noisy with aftermarket pads. It may be worth picking up the OE shim kit from the dealer and installing it onto the Akebono pads.

Replaced the brake line on the Escape today. Took off from work early to get it done. Last week when I noticed it, I sprayed down and heat cycled the flare nuts. This paid off as one broke loose first try and the other needed minimal heat from the torch. The hardest part was the easiest in this. The old line wasn't leaking but as you can see, it was on its way out.

I noticed any oil leak and grimy buildup below the water pump pulley on the Escape 3.0. This has that supplemental pulley off the camshaft, which uses another seal. Ill have to figure out parts and get it done. I noticed a while back that the oil level was lower than what I set and a smell of burnt oil off the exhaust.

Watch carefully, these notoriously develop a severe oil leak that requires separating the engine from the transmission. I wish I could remember exactly what it is -- it's not RMS per se. It will absolutely drip on the exhaust. I fashioned a heat shield on the '05 I used to service, but it barely helped.

I went down the rabbit hole years ago but they (understandably) were not willing to put the money into the vehicle. Now I can't remember which seal causes this.

I tacked this MOVE kit together on an '04 Express. I did the whole thing (again, tacks) just closing my eyes. Now I'm regretting the minor sunburn on my face. I know better, but that doesn't mean I make good choices.

Come to think of it, I should keep sunscreen in my box. It's effectively a tool for hot works after all....

In short order I tore out and cleaned the carbs on our neighbors sled. Looks to be a 2004ish Polaris Trail 550 fan cooled. This one has the dual Mikini carbs. Both were similarly dirty and would explain the symptoms of hard starting and poor idle.

The magnet side pilot was almost completely blocked while the pto side was blocked. Some algae in the bowls as well. Both cleaned up real easy.

I greased up the suspension front and back and put in a donor battery. Well, some sort of wiring issue as no power to the starter solenoid. Ok thats tomorrow's problem. Gapped the plugs and pulled it over to fill the carbs. She came to life with a very high idle, the clutch was beginning to engage. I turned down the idle screws to no avail so its likely the slides need to be set and synced up. Figured so much.
