What are you working on today?

Building some new trails on our land, today using my dads chainsaw, I fell about 90 trees, big, small, and in between. Using our D6, skidded out the first 32, lots more to clear and skid. But every journey begins with that first step...in this case, first tree fallen, begins the journey to expand our track.
Make sure you leave room for a 1/2 mile dirt track. 😁 if you build it, they will come.

The plan yesterday was to change the ATF fluid and filter on my son's '08 Ranger, but he stayed up too late and wouldn't get up in time for us to have the time to do it. It'll have to wait for another weekend now, as I've got a lot of lawn to mow and weeds to spray today.

Buddy's injection pump took a dump...all the symptoms of a worn head/rotor. Did it's job for 250k miles though.

Since I have a few NOS pumps kicking around, I installed a higher rpm governor spring in one of them, and ground down the underside of the AFC lid for more fuel cone travel during no boost conditions.

I'll pop over this afternoon/tomorrow & swap the pumps for him over a beer (or two, if his vacuum pump/bracket bolts are severely rusted).

Re-programmed the TPMS this morning. I have TPMS sensors in both my winter and summer tires. I moved my truck 200 ft away from the garage where the winter tires were stored to make sure they were out of range of the truck. Did the usual pressing of the lock and unlock keys. Heard two honks. Starting with the driver’s side front, let air out of the tire for 5 seconds until it honked, repeated with each tire until the driver’s side rear where it honked twice to announce it was complete. I then drove to the garage where I adjusted the pressure back to 60 psi in the rear and 50 PSI in the front which is the factory recommendation for my 3/4 ton Burb with LT tires. Here of some photos of my parallel 2 gallon compressors hooked up together with a poor boy coupling assembly from Amazon. It speeds things up. Just be sure to watch the pressure gages. ;)

Easter Sunday carpentry. I'm making a small wooden storage cabinet for my garage from scratch. I found two glass doors at IKEA that I can use.

Not strictly automotive, but wanted a more sturdy set up to replace a folding table that I have in my shop. More workbench than just table, and I’ll make it to the height of my table saw, so that it could serve as an out feed table in the future...but right now, it needs to be sturdy for big heavy parts.

Bought some oak. Mostly 8/4. Some 12/4 for legs. The board with crook is the 12/4 but will be cut to short lengths, and the crook will be minimized as a result.

Tape set to 3’ for a sense of scale. Will start cutting, jointing, etc. this week.

Working on trying to get my truck down to my house so they don’t tow it off. The wheels seized up again so I am getting the Jack and the sledge hammer and breaker bar with 21mm socket to free the brake calipers up and then pushing it down the road. Can’t get the thing running for anything, I’ve asked for help and checked everything suggested but still just crank, crank, crank so I am suspecting maybe a relay has gone bad and you can’t get the relays anymore at least not most of them 🙁. The timing is correct, the spark timing is correct, the distributor cap and rotor had been replaced by previous owner, coil been replaced and plug wires. Plugs are fine. I’m totally stumped my parents are angry at me now because it’s taking up space. Checked the fuel pump it’s good unless it’s a carburetor issue but I don’t believe it is as it won’t even start with gas in the carb or starting fluid. So I’ve been trying to solve that mystery the last few days. Today still same thing.

I know you mentioned the ignition components, does it actually have spark?

Yes I pulled one of the plugs out and attached the wire and it was sparking just fine when it was cranked. Totally stumped on this.
If it has spark and you dumped some fuel down the intake, it definitely should have at least farted or backfired or done something. What's the compression like?

LOF, rotate, air filter, cabin filter, CVT drain/refill, brake fluid flush, exterior wash, exterior spray sealant and interior vacuum on a 17 CR-V.

Now my FIL has decided to come cover for a LOF and rotate AFTER I had already cleaned up for the day. 🙄

It was reading about 140 in all cylinders give or take a few for each but within the range. Probably a little low but I would not think it’s low enough to not make it start.

Isn't that always the way? LOL!

Yeah, that's more than adequate for fire. Did the plugs get wet when you dumped gas down the intake? Just wondering if the layout might have prevented that technique from achieving sufficient volume in the CC to facilitate light-off.

They weren’t wet when I pulled them at least that I could tell. They just had anti seize on them and I made sure none was on the electrode preventing it from firing. I might try to put a little gas directly down in the cylinders to see if that may help my dad said that’s what he used to do. I may have a 31 year old lemon here man. The reason it was parked is because it was shutting off at stops. And yes I put new fresh gas in it too.

I was just going to suggest what your dad suggested. I'm not normally one to suggest starter fluid, but that sprayed in the intake may work better than gas too. If you've got spark, it really does sound like it isn't getting fuel.
