What are you working on today?

Tube bumper for a '15 Forester for "the granddaughter" of my non-profit.

I'm soooooo slow at tube work -- I'd go broke if I relied on this for income.

The Forester bumper continues....

A friend who manages a campground gave me a stainless backsplash, complete with soap dispenser still attached. I was able to use some of it for the bumper center plate.

I've never done tube work, is it any easier than making stuff out of plate steel?
Just different I guess. Coping compound angles causes smoke to come from my ears as the gears grind....

Subaru bumper project continued: the airbox had this plastic canister hanging on the bottom. I guess it's just a "muffler" or other attempt to quiet the intake?

This one was serving as a handy storage area for twigs and mouse poop. The minimalist nature of the bumper requires the mouse poop storage box to be deleted, however.

I think I could have just left the airbox open on the bottom (it's before the filter), but I figured on the one-in-a-million chance the vehicle was driven in an absolute deluge the filter could be become saturated.

I grabbed a scrap drop of Delrin, turned it to 2.790" and it slipped in perfectly. I then added a few wood screws (not even kidding) thru the side to keep it from working loose and falling out.
