What are you working on today?

@D60 I think it's more commonly referred to as a tinker. Plus it helps when you have a few oddball parts lying around. But I'm not a hoarder. Struggling with a bad balljoint in the head of this tripod thing. The Allen bolt wont move, so I'll have to run to the shop this weekend.

Doing some work to the Maxima before I part ways with it. I’m trying to make it more presentable, as well. Did a CVT service on it, washed it, and now I’m attempting to correct a lot of faded clear coat. I’m probably biting off more than I should, but hopefully it will be a little nicer by the time I hand over the keys. I have two cans of Spray Max 2k clear coat, and a can of universal black for the trunk, which has been damaged and scratched all the way through the paint. I have my two cars in the driveway so that I can turn my two car garage into a workshop. A bit backwards, I suppose. This is just some of the faded spots, but of course I’m sanding and spraying the whole panel as well.

Work continues on fixing the paint on the Maxima. Tape done and some base color was applied. Turns out the $16 cans of dupli-color paint from O’Reilly are awful. I’m shocked! It led to a lot of splatter that I’m going to have to wet sand down before I spray the clear coat. I’ll probably need to watch a YouTube video on how to do that without messing up the rest of the paint.

Finishing it up tonight, but I bought Hellwig sway bars for the F-350. The front has been fighting me the whole time. I have been doing it between getting home from work and dinner. Ended up unbolting the right side toe adjuster and using persuasion to get it into place.

Uneven driveway caused me some issues getting sways to line up. Mild adjustments with the jack lifting here and there by like an inch helped.

Tackled the leaking t-stat housing on my Silverado and decided to replace the t-stat while in there.
Let it come up to temp aaaanddd....defective. Strike two for garbage aftermarket parts.
OEM t-stat is on huge backorder so old aftermarket t-stat goes back in.

@nthach, with a beer choice like that, you'll end up burning the vehicle down, getting into a fight at a family reunion and then passing out on the couch on the front yard.....

In all fairness, that beer was an acquired taste, one which I did not acquire....
I know down here in PA it’s making a comeback. Especially when it’s $1.50/bottle at many places.

Back in the late 90's I had a few cans of it. Some American hunters brought some along. Couldn't get on that wagon.... not to say the Prairie swill I was drinking was any better. Mind you, the Cutty Sark they brought did the trick.

Don’t worry, I had a few heavier beers during the day. I prefer the cheaper stuff for wrenching.

I put a trailer hitch on the Focus and the muffler bumped into it over bumps... So I "impressed" my boys with putting some blocking inbetween the exhaust and rear subframe, to chose the bending point, and then stuck the jack handle in the muffler and bent it over a bit... The exhaust pipe bent nice and evenly, and the rest of the exhaust stayed together, and there's no banging now, so I'll call that a win!

Today putting up all the loose ends of drywall and getting ready for mudding. Might go for a ride instead of mudding.. yuck!

Yesterday got the new relay and 6v bulbs in the scooter. Lights work perfect. Took it for a ride. 80cc but seems to handle traffic up to 40 easily... dang that was fun. Think the carb needs work, a few vacuum lines are missing. It's odd how many looks I got, what's so strange about a scooter??

Yesterday I picked up a small journal 327 crankshaft off marketplace. Today I've got it soaking in some CRC Evaporust. Maybe one day I'll put it in my 283 round bottom block and build a stroker. Got most of the parts.

Clear coat done. I’ll have to wait for the garage to clear out before I take pictures. It isn’t perfect by any stretch- I didn’t have a clean room, the black paint was cheap and didn’t go on very thick, but it looks a lot better than before. Hopefully it will be cared for and kept for a long time, especially now that it’s not an eye sore!

Up next is painting the cheap plastic “chrome” trim. I haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to do it yet, but it will absolutely look better than the sorry shape it’s in now.

Edit: included pictures now. Looks decent. Should compound and polish to a pretty decent shine. Fingers crossed!

Did winter tire/rim swap to all season tire/rim for wife's MDX, my TL, and son's Focus. All seasons set up ride firmer and with less noise. Feels like driving different vehicles.
Put the two snowblowers into the shed and took out the lawn mower and gave a quick cut to suck up all the dead leaves from last fall. Outdoor Christmas lights have been taken down.
