What are you working on today?

Finished up the Hummer H2 engine re-seal, Yes....I really, really hate H2's!

This one has encountered some really high oil temps as even the O-rings in the oil cooler quick connects at the radiator were rock hard & leaking profusely, I replaced ALL the trans cooler quick connect O-rings as well. 4L60E seal kits comes with O-rings for the 3/8" trans cooler quick connects & the 1/2" oil cooler quick connects.

New oil cooler lines were also replaced. Along with new quick connects at the heater core as they were very brittle.

The owner attempted to negotiate on the price when I initially quoted it.....Glad I didn't budge. Not that I would on a ridiculous vehicle like this.

Lexus coil pack job on hold waiting for some wiring bits to come in today. Son pulled the harness up and pulled out the wires from the exhaust cam position sensor...opps. Need to hit Harbor Freight for a pinning set. Should be straightforward to get it back together once he fixes that connector. Also had ordered the intake manifold gasket and plenum gasket kit but probably was a waste as the intake manifold doesn't come out for this and the plenum gaskets are rubber and were fine to reuse.

Forgot to drop my other project on here. Oldest home for Christmas break from college and I got him a new f. brake kit for Christmas...EBC slotted/dimpled rotors, Yellowstuff pads, Stoptech stainless lines, and Stoptech 600 fluid for his Focus. Easy job and hell be able to take it to the track this year now.

Elbow deep in the Milan, because that's what headlights are now 😭
Swapped the 9005 for a cut down 9011, and the 194 for a 168

After getting the fluid up into the 185-200° range, it was at the bottom of the acceptable range
It took about 8oz to put it in the hash marks, I'll call that good enough 👍
Fix some of the body shops clownery
Loose bolts, one just hanging loose in the splash shield, plate bolts loose causing rattle
😮‍💨

My stepdaughter brought over the Nissan Altima with the PITA CVT dipstick that I finally got removed. I was able to siphon out three qts of black dirty CVT fluid, replace with Castrol Transmax and the BG 303 additive. Went to check the dipstick and the oil was low to so I topped off with two quarts.

More minor cosmetics before a few bigger projects. I never liked the yellow NADA spec lights on European cars, so I tend to replace them w/ the RoW version. However, the RoW and US 993's are different; we have bumperettes and our corner lights are ~2.5" shorter. I saw where some folks adapted the Euro ones and I figured I'd try. I purchased a set of OEM lights and went about measuring, sectioning, sanding, measuring, filing, fitting, sanding than finally splicing the finished and to the shortened light. This was followed by sealing and buffing and I am rather happy with the outcome. The film is the protective film they were covered in that I left on throughout the work as much as I could.

Monday
2001 Dodge Ram 2500 2wd
Finished replacement of upper and lower ball joints, changed engine oil

1969 Chevrolet C10
Installed rebuilt carburetor and began running new fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump, and from fuel pump to carburetor

Great choice!
Yep, I wanted a Euro oil for this 2.4L Subaru TGDI engine. I could have gone a D1G2/3 5W-30. But hours toiling on the Outback/Ascent forums and here pointed me this way. I wasn’t willing to join Team Rotella here - unless I was able to get T6 MV 5W-30 locally. Read the FA20F had LSPI issues and wasn’t willing to roll the dice with T6 5W-40.

1969 Chevrolet C10
Finished replacing the fuel lines, put some fresh gas in the tank and got it running. Changed the oil after getting the idle set where I wanted it

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
Replaced radiator, flushed block and heater core, replaced upper and lower radiator hoses

Finished the lower cabinets today. Just some minor touch up at the top to do, that will wait for another day as this has been quite the exhausting process!

Need to adjust a couple doors and install some new magnetic latches, but for being original pine/maple cabinets from 1965 they were in really good shape. Wish I could buy pine that good now adays!

199 Oldsmobile Alero @ 78,300 miles found an ABS sensor wire broken (right front) that was causing the "low trac" and "ABS" lights to come on. Just spliced in a small piece of wire to repair. I only repaired the one wire, so I expect to be revisiting this one again for the other wire, or maybe the front left at some future point in time. Sorry for the blurry quality pic:
