What are you working on today?

My project this week was lots of yard work. Took down a couple of trees, bucked and stacked (birch and white oak). Burned an huge pile of brush that had accumulated. Raked and lots of blowing/bagging leaves. 130 bags worth of stuff and not done yet. Certainly exhausting.

Did the final diagnosis on the Focus. Middle two cylinders are down at least 40psi over 1 and 4. With the pressure tester in cylinder 2 I could hear the hiss from the reservoir. Lasted 4 years and 30k from when I replaced the head. We're not going any further with it. 20 year old econobox so everything is about shot. Going to pull some new parts off and might scrap it in a week or two. I have mixed feelings since my sisters car that passed 11 years ago.. I guess she's telling us her nephew deserves a better car LOL.

This weekends plan is to swap out the digital speedo cluster on the 2010 Civic. The top part of the speedo readout has failed. Should get another 200k out of the new one.

I treated my dad's work issued 2010 Prius to the H9 mod
Because it's getting darker earlier, and he's getting older 👁️
Out came two no name H11's, in went two cut down German made Philips H9's
Toyota projectors aren't known for aging well, but they really livened up the low beams in Project xB² (right) that I thought he'd enjoy them in the Prius
I also have a set I'm cutting down right now for Project Fusion (left)
And a cabin filter, because it's worth it 🤝
It was his and me/sister's birthday 🎂
We were his 40th birthday present, and 5th anniversary present
26 👴, and the back pain is excruciating 😔

Today, did the oil change on our beater 2010 Mazda 3. It got Supertech 0W20 and a Fram TG filter... Plus a check of fluids, top off and air in the tires since the temps have plummeted here in NE Ohio.

So all that is left is my mower, power generator and power washer before winter storage.

The Milan is finally home from the body shop, 3 months and $6,750 after it's accident
My sister's birthday present 🎉
...if she totals one more car 😞
Looking as sharp as ever
Daily driver Camry got front brakes and an oil change
I bent a caliper slide pin, and broke one bleeder, so you can guess how that went down 👎
And the Fusion got the sunroof glass removed, seals cleaned, and adjusted flush to the roof
... it's better, but I may have to try again 🙄

Saturday project with my Son. My Daughter’s 2011 Mazda 3 had some foggy headlights that have had the headlight restore treatment done once, so it was time to just replace them.
We installed some CAPA certified headlamp assemblies along with all new bulbs. While we were at it, she got a new drive belt, new A/C stretchy belt, an oil change, and as always, the car was inspected thoroughly.

finished refinishing the kitchen drawers, all surfaces except for the face. 49 year old wood, dirt everywhere. Sanded all of it, cleaned it up, stained and poly’ed, and refurbed the slides.

but this was the more interesting bitog attempt …. making a “pocket adapter” to mount hella FF50 aux lights in the F150 fog lamp holes. will drop the file by the office where they’ve got a 3D printer. Not shown is the back side with the aiming tab which should work (if it all lines up) with the oem screw/spring.

Great work sir🍻🇺🇸😎

Thank you for choosing Redline motor oil, with its premium formulation. Only takes a backseat to @High Performance Lubricants in my humble opinion. Sorry @Pablo lol

Today, I diagnosed and basically solved what I believe to have been a tank of bad gas on the Ford.
The Boxster has had Mobil1 5w-50 since I've had her. I decided to switch both Porsche's to Redline 10w-50 and there is a noticeable reduction in engine noise, even at operating temps. A section of our drive is narrow with walls and you get accustomed to the sound (w/ my old fleet I am usually listening for knocks, rattles and something falling off), and realized a significant reduction in engine noise returning from the after-oil change drive... Interesting, I had read about Mobil being a bit louder, but never actually experienced it. Cannot say if it actually matters, but certainly noticeable.
