What are you working on today?

Had not one, But Two Chevy Sonic 1.8L towed in today. One has a blown head gasket & the other had a cracked degas bottle.

Sold a used engine on the blown HG car....Along with a Timing Belt, Water Pump & ALL the plastic cooling components that cause so many issues with the 1.8L Ecotec.

Sold the degas bottle on the other, They declined the Thermostat Housing which appears original.....Guess they want to ride the blown head gasket express:)

Fixing up these Economy puddle jumpers might be a continuing trend with fuel prices the way they are??

Drove down to Idaho and recovered a Detroit 4-53T Silver.:)

Ottawa CYT30 yard truck overhaul. It came in for an oil change and a few minor repairs. Found coolant in the transmission that required a new radiator($3700) and a did all new belts and hoses while it was easy to get to plus a new thermostat. It has a 5.9 Cummins. Found left rear wheel seal out so it is getting shoes, drums, and hubs gone through. Found crack in differential housing that is common in these so I will grind it out and repair. Found air dryer totally full of carbon and air compressor failed cutout test so it got a new air compressor and dryer assembly. Found bolts broken off in the left front S cam tube so I’ll be tearing that brake assembly down to extract them and install new ones. There is also a hydraulic issue that is preventing it from lifting loaded trailers that I will be troubleshooting after everything else is done. This job will probably exceed $15k when it’s done.

It's going to be a Dyno mule for testing different injectors and turbo combos. Eventually it will be swapped into my Excursion.:)
How many of those old Detroit's do you have? I don't have any experience with them, but I've always loved the way a Detroit two stroke sounds, and I just think they are neat in general.

Started a brake job on a 1969 Chevrolet C10. I've gone as far as getting it torn down for inspection, and I've ordered parts that should be here sometime tomorrow. The shoes are good at all four corners, but it needs wheel cylinders and brake hoses. I'll also be repacking the front wheel bearings and greasing the front end while I'm doing everything else. I've also got a 2000 Buick LeSabre in the shop for a coolant leak, which has turned out to be the heater hose bypass tubes, swapping out the plastic ones for Dorman aluminum. Should have it squared away tomorrow morning.

Got the Buick finished this morning. I've got all the wheel cylinders and hoses replaced on the 69 C10, but I'm going to have to replace a section of brake line that runs along the passenger side of the frame to the rear brake hose. I may do that tomorrow, and I may not. It's supposed to turn off cold tonight and I'm feeling a do-nothing weekend coming on.

The Ford 5R110 that was behind the 6.4.:) Factory PCM/TCM and HPTuners to tune the trans. It took me many hours of tuning, but finally shifts really nice now.:)
I was wondering what you had to do to operate the factory transmission. That's really cool. I didn't actually go to YouTube to watch your video, I just watched the thumbnail here. What's your channel? I'd like to see more of your stuff.

I replaced a driver side balljoint on the ‘93 Tercel. It’s up to 363,250km now. I had really damaged the threads on the old one last year and it seemed to be holding but I wanted a new one in place.

I had a bit of trouble getting the old one out - ended up taking the cv shaft out and hitting the balljoint with the air hammer from the top.

Next up I’ll likely replace the driver’s side door handle once again. I’m tired of these breaking every time it’s frozen out so I’ll see if I can get a good wrecking yard Toyota part instead of the junk Dorman version.
