Van Halen would never have reached the level of success that they did without Sammy Hagar. I love the DLR era of Van Halen, but DLR was a vaudeville act that couldn't sing for crap. I believe that if DLR hadn't left Van Halen, he would have taken them down with him.
Sammy has been rock and roll since his Montrose days.
Maybe that's why Mikey is still with Sammy today. (Michael Anthony, the true harmonics and sound of the DLR era Van Halen)
