Was that recently? I got I need you stuck in my head now, it has a chord progression that I have never heard before and it's amazing. A/Am7/Em7/Dm7/G7/C. When the bass comes in and lands on the G7 it's otherwordly. My sister and I had tickets to go see them in concert, but it got canceled at the last minute![]()
Yeah it was last year sometime. They were here in Dallas and my sister scored tickets for us. A few days before the show, they sent out a message saying it was cancelled and refunds would be issued. We were totally bummed! Was that recently? I got I need you stuck in my head now, it has a chord progression that I have never heard before and it's amazing. A/Am7/Em7/Dm7/G7/C. I have a venue near me, a little old YMCA in the sticks converted to a small concert hall. I have seen Al Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, The FiXx and Martin Barre - the great Jethro Tull guitarist - all music hear-oes(sic) to me.

To properly hear "I Need You" it has to be heard on the original mono WB 45. The mono 45 mix is superior to the lp mix. That's my favorite song by them. Still has a 60s folk rock sound to it.
I love Badfinger!! Especially when they were The Iveys. I have an original copy of their only lp "Maybe Tomorrow". Imo their best, which they never topped, was the song "Maybe Tomorrow", which of course the mono Iveys Apple 45 mix is superior to the stereo lp mix (on both The Iveys lp and Badfinger "Magic Christian Music" lp). The mono 45 just has such better and louder sound. You are into Gerry Beckley deeper than I, but I actually like the George Martin remix on the History album.
The bass guitar and percussion are brought up and I hear he did a semitone pitch change also. It all ends up a bit dense and amorphous, but I find it much more devastating emotionally. It's great there are a lot of early and later live performance videos to watch and compare to the studio sessions, I really enjoy these YT videos.
Being interested in music production and engineering, I listened and studied and compared Badfinger before and after they were professionally produced by Todd Rundgren with some big George Harrison influence to see how the songs were turned Beatlesque. The results are quite revealing. I cannot find the original release on YT to post a comparison, but an early CD release had some pre and post rerecording. - Ken
