What are you listening to right now?

I FINALLY got to hear Leo Kottke do his cover of Tom T. Hall's "Pamela Brown", as well as his own excellent "Machine Number 2", LIVE last night at our concert series!! (One more to cross off of my bucket list, now I've got to catch Guy Clark somewhere.

That man wields one MEAN acoustic 12 string, and his picking AND sliding on it is hard to believe (it sounds as if there is more than one person playing at times!).

daughter (12) sang this at the auditions of a talent contest today (missed it, but made some people sit upright apparently)

edit..daughter is not birdy, but she's on stage next weekend in front of the town.

Her practice is really really good.

No kidding.

Do you guys know Phil's story?? Truly amazing.

Southside Johnny (Lyons) And The Poor Fools live at our series last night.

They did acoustic/alt country versions of the Asbury Jukes songs ("I Don't Want To Go Home", "Love On The Wrong Side Of Town", 'All I Needed Was You", etc.).

As well as some GREAT covers; "Sin City", "Wasted Days And Wasted Nights", "Ophelia", "Beneath Still Waters", "I Can Tell", "I Choose To Sing The Blues", and many others I did not write down.

They finished/encored with a beautiful song written by Mr.Lyons himself (along with one of the band members), "Winter In Yellowknife", which despite his gruff vocals, just WORKED perfectly with the backing of the band's EXCELLENT piano player, and pedal steel player.
