What are you eating right now?

Just off the grill. Yummy. Flank steak, broccoli, onions, mushrooms.

My girlfriend and I went to a Hibachi Teppanyaki restaurant tonight. Lots of fun! I’ve been to these places in the past, once on vacation in Punta Cana. I had the chicken with fried rice 😋View attachment 347478View attachment 347479

Been to a few of those over the years. Obviously Benihana, but also some independents. Went to one in Lahaina once and I’m thinking it might have burned down in the fire. Or maybe it closed down before then.

Strangely enough there’s a new Benihana opening near me. Takes over a closed Tex-Mex place.

Made some mac and cheese as a family after dinner snack. Really simple. Just fusilli then a slice of Kraft Singles plus shredded sharp cheddar. The Kraft Singles has sodium citrate which helps the cheese from clumping. Ideally I would have melted just the cheddar with some food grade sodium citrate. I’ve heard that’s how restaurants get really nice mac and cheese without needing to add milk.

Last night’s dinner. New menu item at outback steakhouse.
Seared Ahi tuna. Can’t believe it, but I got into eating extremely rare or completely raw tuna this year. However, outback steakhouse was the worst experience of the spring and summer.

Outback kind of ruined the experience. Instead of a nice mellow tasting fish I got strongly flavored pastrami type seasoning coated Tuna. Maybe it will be a hit being I sense it was Americanized or Australian. Not for me.

It ruined the entire experience. Without the coating it would’ve been wonderful. Absolutely cold served on a cold bed of lettuce. Tender and raw. I don’t use the sauce that accompanies any meal. I figure it’s no good for you and I eat what I eat as is.

I did order mashed potatoes with it and just had maybe about 25% of what was served as they weren’t too great.
