What are you eating right now?

These mushrooms are thick-cut king trumpet/oyster mushrooms. They are super meaty. You can cut king trumpets into thick slices and fry them like meat. They can also stand in for abalone if you've gone nutters.

Having a few smoked ribs before my nap. Grocery lady picked them up today at our local store. They have a smoker out back and cook them there. Getting expensive like every thing else. $19.99 for a 1.25 LB rack. Good eating though, so I treat myself now and then.

A bag of Orville's best. :D

Ribollita: Last night I enjoyed one of my favorite soups, although it's thick enough to be a stew. I also had some for breakfast. I've been making a variation of this just about every fall and winter since discovering it in an article in the now-defunct magazine, Cusine, back in 1982. The beauty of this soup is that it's designed to use some leftovers and to be enjoyed on the second and third days after preparation.

JD- those are beans (not olives). And the two banana looking items are sweet plantains, and boy are sweet plantains tasty....
My bad on thinking they were olives. Beans make more sense. Had to Google sweet plantains, had never heard of them.
