Golly gee. How many people live in or drive through NC without a hiccup? NC has some of the biggest Marine and Army bases as well as Navy and Air Force. If what they say was true, I and a bajillion others would have spent half our lives in a NC jail for being outsiders.I’m getting all my coins together to do another coin run to the Coinstar machine. I found I have an abundance of the gold dollar coins with Sacagawea on them and presidents so I’m keeping one of each and the rare ones and throwing the rest into the machine. Same with the Susan B. Anthony dollars and Kennedy Half Dollars. Trying to keep a few really nice condition ones and just part with the rest. I see it as savings for my vacation because stuff is going to be really expensive at that mall. They really aren’t worth anything other than face value except a few select ones which I’ve set aside. I’m debating whether to pull all the pennies or turn them in lol. I saved all the copper ones and 2009 ones.
My parents think I’m crazy and asked if that was going to be my bail out fund for jail for me and my friend Danny boy because we won’t make it in North Carolina for a day. I asked them why they think that and they said because North Carolina has weird laws so I said elaborate on the weird laws they said if you speed and go 10 over you’ll get taken in I’m like I doubt that and then they said since me and him dress very differently we will probably be watched by the mall security. I think they just don’t want me to go but it’s already planned me and my friend Danny boy are going regardless of what they say.
Those coins can be sold for decent prices on eBay ... you sell through there, right. Go search for some of those and see what the cheaper range of prices for some of those is going for. Better check out some of those 2009s ... LINKI’m debating whether to pull all the pennies or turn them in lol. I saved all the copper ones and 2009 ones.
Kennedy halves are a dime a dozen ($6 a dozen?) unless you can pull 40 or 90% silver coins. It is very doable. Get a box of $500 face and it’s about guaranteed even with silver where it is today. Those coins can be sold for decent prices on eBay ... you sell through there, right. Yep, that's why I asked what years they were. If there are any silver 1776-1976 they go for a lot. 1976 didn’t have a silver circulation strike. Only 65-70 were 40%. If you get a silver bicentennial half someone took it out of a set and spent it.Yep, that's why I asked what years they were. There was a collectible 40% silver version of the 1976 Kennedy half dollar. People have actually found them in the wild. Rare instances, but it happens. The Reddit coin collecting forum shows a lot of wild cases of valuable coins found in the wild. Some kid probably snagged his dad's collection and went down and bought some cigarettes and beer with them, lol. Or some addict criminal broke into some house and stole a collection then just spent it not knowing anything about coins.1976 didn’t have a silver circulation strike. Only 65-70 were 40%. That’s fair, but we’re saying the same thing - there shouldn’t be.There was a collectible 40% silver version of the 1976 Kennedy half dollar. People have actually found them in the wild. Yes indeed. Some are very tempting. Some should be low montage numbers. The best value imo is still the classic (pre 86 or whenever they started again) commemeratives, as the mint ages of many was rather low, and the values haven’t moved as much as some more common and popular classic circulation strike coins. The US Mint is going gonzo for the Semiquincentennial and making all kinds of special collectable coins in silver and gold. Bring lots of money, lol.
https://www.usmint.gov/shop/do think a modern Morgan dollar or mercury dime is a neat idea. I think they’re doing standing liberty quarters and a few others. Many are gold, no?
