It is a model 99, which was a 3/4 size sewing machine that Singer made, to be more portable. My mother-in-law's machine being in a cabinet was very uncommon for this model. Most were in carrying cases.

According to a database I found, the serial number for this machine was in a range of serial numbers that Singer registered in January 1938. But my mother-in-law said her brother bought it for her, at the end of WWII, so we are estimating that she got it in about 1946, meaning it has now been in the family for 80 years. I'm hoping we can keep it in the family for at least a couple more generations, by passing it on to one of our grand daughters.

I am finishing up at work and tidying up. I asked the story teller guy at work today about deodorant and he said he’s been using the same stick for 20 years but we all say that he’s full of it lol. It lasts awhile but not 20 years unless you don’t use it.

Singer made 1911s during the war for a short time.
 
Well I’m bummed the bowling is canceled and it’s snowing again so now I’m going to be bored tonight. Everyone is like bowling got boring and it’s something you should do once every 10-15 years. I’m like I personally think it’s fun. They all want to go golfing now talk about boring there it is lol. One of the techs said he would never want to hang out with coworkers outside of work. I guess that’s understandable but it’s about having fun and not thinking about work. The 82 year old mechanic was going to go but it was going to be me him and the organizer. Oh well. Apparently it’s been canceled since Monday and I didn’t know it till I asked someone if they were going or not.

You should see if you can join a bowling league! My first wife was in a bowling league with her brother and father and she had a lot of fun doing that for many years. Both her father and brother are excellent bowlers. Both of them have bowled a perfect 300 game (her father did that twice actually)

I took bowling as a college PE class. Bowling alley was in the basement of the student union, Great break in the class routine two days a week and lots of girls in the class.
