What are you doing right now?

Like real rats, not mice? What attracts them to your place? How do you deal with them?

My old neighbor had a large chicken ranch (we kinda live in the boonies) - he left, place cleaned up, rats all over now!

EDIT: That is a full size, large rat trap, NOT a mouse trap

That stinks. I imagine these things reproduce rapidly, too. They're like a mini version of a feral Hog infestation. No matter how lethal your response is, you can't get them all.

Jeepers. Rats. Thankfully I've yet to see one.

Just back from the transfer station. Need to run out again and get snow shovels. The one I like has hit too many ruts and seems a bit bent; I will try to hammer out but as we're slated for 12 to 20 inches of snow, I might want to have a spare, ya' know?

Tempted to see if I can pull my ATV with its plow into the garage, but I know it won't fit. Bummer. I knew I should have gotten that place with the 5 car garage...

Just made my car payment. Went ahead and did it 3 days ahead of time because weather is likely to hold us in for a few days and can’t do the payment online but can put it in the checking account and transfer it to the payment account. I can’t believe a bank/credit union in 2026 doesn’t offer online payment for auto loans.

I’m giving a winery tour right now in Niagara on the Lake, and my two guests live where I grew up and went to high school! They are from Meadowvale (which is part of Mississauga)

Just finished taking outdoor house pics to submit online for the insurance company. Decided to get it done before the storm hits. They'll probably find tiny little things to raise my rates. They want pictures of all the sink plumbing, circuit breaker box, furnace... pick something. I guess it's cheaper for them and easier for me to not have some stranger poking around in here.

The snow has began falling. We are riding around. Trying to get some last minute stuff before it gets too heavy. I’m also bored so I’m ready to go home and chill and might watch tv and hope the power doesn’t go out.

We are doing DoorDash orders before they shut off orders for the snow storm in a few hours. Most places are closing up though early as there’s already about an inch on the ground and roads. If we get to a place and it’s closed then you still get half pay.

That reminds me of a time when I was working support for a software company. I was on mainframe support but we had similar products for Oracle and other platforms. If we were paged after-hours, we got hourly pay, based on how much time you worked with a customer, but 11PM - 6AM were considered "waking hours" and we were guaranteed 1 hour of pay even if the call took 5 minutes. Early one morning the pager goes off, I call in, and the receptionist says "I have a ticket from [customer] who has a problem with [product name] for Oracle...oh ####! I paged the wrong area."

I did get that hour's worth of pay that pay-period.
