What are you doing right now?

I’ve found them at the curb before lol.

If you had been here 8 years ago, you could've had thousands of DVD's. Most were still new in box. What a colossal waste of money.

When an Aunt of mine passed 8 years ago, she had thousands of DVD's. Her siblings tried to sell them at pennies on the dollar, with no interest. They ended up in a landfill. She used to comment periodically about struggling financially, and here she blew tens of thousands of dollars on thousands of worthless DVD's...

Amazing how some things can become so worthless. Think of all the money spent on CRT TV's. Heck the early LCD's are probably same class.

I do like to buy things with the belief that it's for my own enjoyment. The ROI has to be there over a short period of time. But I can't imagine spending thousands of dollars on something... that seems excessive.

'tis true, they like to drop favorites. Our problem is, we like the expensive shows. Wife gave in and bought a DVD player for region whatever, so that she could buy the Brit shows that she likes.

I just try to avoid TV in general. :)

Why do you say they are a waste of money? Just genuinely curious.

Because they were bought, when she was struggling to afford the actual necessities (food, medications, shelter) of life. Most of them hadn't even been opened. A true waste of money.

In your case, you state frequently that you would like to get a girlfriend/ wife, and start a family. You will need your own place. But you're wasting money on DVD's and junk food, when you should be saving and investing all you can to start your life.

Movies (especially if not a recent release) can usually be watched for free. Yes, you have to have an internet service, but most everyone already has that.

I mean, you're an adult, you can do whatever you want... But you're shooting yourself in the foot buying useless stuff, instead of saving for important things. Or at least the things you have stated repeatedly that you want.

Make a budget!

I'm avoiding work at the moment (*cough*) while I update my budget for next year. Wife's new job means having to adjust things; I want to make sure we set withholding properly, while still saving around 15% for retirement. And being able to pay for college bills. And... while trying to justify that next vehicle too...

Edged, mowed, and blowed. Dinner guests coming over tonight for dinner on the patio.

Sounds like a basic collecting addiction. Lots of people fall into this category. Some people collect things that hold or increase value (coins, stamps, guns, watches, etc), and some people collect things that are worthless down the line.
