What are you doing right now?

Finding stuff in my closet I didn't know I had.... rounding up for the veterans

Called on my car, shop says they hope it'll be done this afternoon. Whew, was starting to think I'd have to rent a car for the weekend, it got old real quick having only 2 cars in the driveway, I kinda need wheels for next week. Fingers crossed that it'll be done and I can sorta get around again (kids have jobs and it's not easy to carpool, but one goes away in the fall so it just doesn't seem right to spend money on a fourth vehicle).

Doh! no such luck. Radar thingie isn't happy, now they hope to be done on Monday.

Might go car shopping this afternoon, wife isn't happy. At the least it means I spend the day shuttling kids around as she needs her car for work, and both kids are working, and... just two more months I keep telling myself, then 3 cars is ok to get by with. 2 is way too little.

I hear you! We finally have three vehicles again. No payments. Every time one vehicle went down it could become a major headache. Or ordering oem parts and waiting for them to get mailed to me instead of paying 2x or 3x more for autoparts store stuff that won't last vs oem.

Anyway, there's people that didn't understand why I am keeping my 00 toyota camry as a spare vehicle which blows my mind. Something like it is $3k sadly now. Has 270k miles.

Last example of a vehicle going down; I had my high mileage alternator rebuilt at a business 1 hour away. 4 months later it wasn't charging any longer. Especially at idle. Instead of paying $270 for a denso I decided to warranty it. I had to remove it to warranty it. They decided on a full rebuild.... again! They were one part short from rebuild.

Got permission from the vice president to drive the company truck home, but apparently it blew out of proportion and became a thing. If I had a spare vehicle it wouldn't have been an issue. Never know what life will throw at you!

Yep, it was great when I had 3 vehicles for 2 drivers, bit overkill when it was 4 for 2 drivers. But with 3 cars for 4 drivers... now it has dipped to 2 vehicles for 4 drivers! it is problematic.

Was always great to just park the problem vehicle and mail order parts, or repair in the evening, or what have you.

I just finished BBQ'ing and was watching Floor Jansen's instagram feed. She's playing some live shows under her own name (not Nightwish) but playing a lot of Nightwish material (I assume wholly sanctioned by Tuomas) and was, unsurprisingly, called "THE VOICE" by Nita Straus. I'm not sure what, if anything to read into this 🤷‍♂️

Just got down with the weed wacker, thought I'd make the most of the waning sunlight. 79F and 79% humidity, not that bad w/o the sun (but not that great either, go outside for 5 minutes and then you can just feel the moisture being pulled out of you, inside with the a/c keeping humidity reasonable).

Trying to throw out stuff that got dragged home over the years and that I know I'll never do anything with. Also trying to figure out what to do with old photos, have some albums that I could them into, but really, I should also put them into order and make notes, before I forget the faces and places. Or toss the photos if I don't have that info.

Sitting outside with my dad waiting on our neighbor to fix our roof. Neither of us do ladders so glad the neighbor is willing to help lol. I’m ready to get on with my day and go get some Chinese food lol.

I dislike ladders but hate roofs. Shallow pitch I can sorta do, if it's single story... above that, and nope.

What's real fun is on a two story ladder (or taller), you get to the middle and the darn thing starts shaking with every step you take. I have zero regrets in buying a ranch... that came with a new roof.

Another team penning weekend. Its hot, I'm tired but hey, I am not at work!! My wife and oldest daughter are almost home, have been gone since early Monday at an Arabian horse show. They did quite well BTW.

On a separate note for @AutoMechanic get yourself a government, city, municipal or similar job. Pay into a pension while you are still young. I am 43 and can retire with a lump sum pension any day now I want. Otherwise, next fall I could retire with 20 years and have a reduced defined benefit pension for life. Likely I will work until 50 at least to access a greatly increased pension. Start early!!!

On a side note, with the price of everything, including kids, I am thinking of working until I am 109 but you better believe it that I am going to party hard after that!

It was a long day for me! Left my girlfriend’s house at 7:15 and drove to Niagara Falls and gave tours at 10:00, 1:00 and 4:00. Then there was an accident on the Skyway Bridge on my way home so I was rerouted a different way. So I didn’t get home until 8:15 😬 I will be doing that all over again tomorrow, drive 80 miles to the falls and give three tours. At least my drive after that will be short, just a 30 mile drive to my girlfriend’s house. One of our tour guides is still ghosting us, so unless she has a super legit excuse, she’s fired. But this means a lot more tours for me! (Possibly more than I wanted to be doing) 😳
