What are you doing right now?

I just got back from giving a historical walking tour of Niagara on the Lake to a very nice couple who are visiting from Miami. It was a lot colder than they are used to, as it was only about 35F, but the sun was shining and it wasn’t windy so it was comfortable enough for a two hour walk. I can’t wait for the tourist season to come and then I will be back in Niagara Falls giving 2 or 3 full walking tours every day (6 days per week that is)

Amazon sent this by mistake....
They just gave it to me...at no cost..

I retired two years ago at age 53 and now I’m working part time as a tour guide in Niagara Falls and life is good! 😎
Sorry, been offline for a couple of days--

when I first read this, my first thought was, "any chance he's living in a van... down by a river..."? :ROFLMAO:

AM, keep up the good work. Slow increases to retirement savings rate is perfectly fine. Ramp up and let it grow. If you have the ambition and start now, you may well hit your goal. I'd recommend making a spreadsheet and plot what you think you will have, perhaps using monthly compounding, and see how you can achieve the goal. At the same time, maybe another spreadsheet with your budget in it. Try to account for all expenses--but feel free to put in an allowance. After all these years I still aim for $20/wk allowance for myself and "fun". Anyhow, I think as you go through this, you'll see where your money is going, and get into the habit of tracking it. Then as you see it grow, you'll want to keep cultivating your nest egg. And with the goal of retirement clear in mind, you'll see how to achieve it. Good luck.

Got done gluing up a cabinet door. It is near the stove and when it swings open, it hits the stove and I think over time it just caused a stress point where the wood partially broke. Had to run out for another 36" bar clamp, then pry open the crack... could not get a syringe for the life of me to inject glue into the crack, no one has them for sale? luckily the wife had some left over from something, no needle but I was able to trim some plastic and have a glue injector.

Was a nice day to be outside yesterday, almost hit 60F--tomorrow it snows. Ah springtime... Tomorrow I suspect I have to get up early and drive the daughter to school, then come home and drive the son to college in the afternoon. Get to play taxi again. It's a threat of ice and neither wants to drive in that--she flipped a car last year, son's car has lousy tires and he's in no position to deal with incidents (disabled). Will make for a fun day, if the weather does as they predict.

We are riding around trying to decide on dinner since dad didn’t want to have steaks or grill anything. I just want to eat and relax and watch TV and maybe drink beer and wish I could retire lol. I don’t feel like going to work tomorrow I just want to sleep in and enjoy life lol. But I need money so have to work.

About to crash after moving more stuff to the new house. My Garmin says I climbed 35 flights of stairs and walked 13650 steps today. I'm kinda tired.
I recall buying my first house, I was 29 and I was pretty wiped out after moving all the boxes. Second house, I was 42 and not quite as wiped out... but I can't imagine what it'd be like now. Nowhere as fast, for sure.

You're too young to be burned out--you should be chasing skirts not steaks. Not that either is good for you, but a man's gotta have priorities.

Me, I'm too old, so I have to live vicariously through encouraging others.

After 6 years of professional wrenching I feel burned out some days lol. I want a girl in my life just hasn’t worked out the way I wanted it to work out. Hopefully 2025 is my year though. Next month is my 23rd birthday so I’m hoping I’ll have luck.

What are the concrete steps you're taking to reach your goal?

Make a plan, execute the plan.

Use dating sites which I’ve had no luck with. Main goal is try to get out more and meet people even if it’s not girls because they still might be able to connect me with girls. If I don’t have one by 25 or so I’ll give up on everything in life. That’s the plan anyway. Nothing seems to work in my favor these days.

Do you make first contact on those sites, or just wait for someone to contact you? Gotta be aggressive because most women want to be chased.
