What are you doing right now?

Just got to work. Kinda mad I have to work today. I want to be Black Friday shopping with my family. I’m the only blue collar worker I know besides my coworkers that have to work today. I can understand sales being open for Black Friday. Oh well free money for me basically because we will be lucky to have 10 cars today. Being the only dealership open though you never know what might happen if it’s busy I’d be very mad lol.

Someone please take AM a couple turkey sandwiches please!;)

Convincing myself to email on a CL car, always get second thoughts before doing so--it's always a possible big financial mistake.

Got a fuse in the mail to fix some outdoor blow up nativity scene, friends of ours owns it, motor quit, I found a bad thermal fuse. Have to install, test, reassemble. Then do some more Christmas shopping and Black Friday shopping; there's not much I need but there's always the chance I'll find something that I didn't know I needed--but look, it's on sale!

Took a look at Fidelity to see how I could set up direct deposit next year; was redirected to start with my employer. Decided I'd ask HR first to see if they've done this before--why figure out on my own if they already know how to do it?

Car shopping on CL (what else). Found a site that has a podcast series that I mean to download long ago, but then had problems finding. But I can only download one at a time, and it takes like 10 minutes per, so am doing things between.

Got the first batch of Christmas shopping in--and of course, Amazon screwed up something, so will have to return that. Didn't feel like driving out right away to return.

Will go back to cleaning my office, it's time to make pretty I think, been a mess too long. Have some projects I should get back to.

Job hunting. I was offered a job but the commute was a little too long and 2/3rds of the drive was on an unlit highway that can be closed due to blowing snow making an hour an 10 commute 2 hrs.

If it has flextime it might not be bad. My managers have known for years now that if the weather is bad I'm not coming in--or I'm going home early. But if it's an 8-5 (or similar) then commuting in snow can be brutal. I usually don't mind (if I get caught in it) but only if traffic is low. Might be safer bumper to bumper but you can't go as fast. ;)

But giving up 2 hours of your life just for driving every day... I put up with it for years and I'm not sure why. It's quite the tax on your vehicle and your body, and on time spent with others (outside of work, like family). The pay has to be good to want to jump into something like that.

Yeah the job recruiter whom I met for the interview wasn't able to get me a full -time spot at the location 30 minutes away. They pull from the main office. I'm going to apply for a couple of Tesla detailing and dmv paperwork specialist jobs. I've applied for Tesla 5 times and nothing. I saw a couple of tech writer jobs come open that alot of my skills fit. My current job and management seem to favor under 30 for promotions even though most have way less job experience than I do. It reminds me of the mobsters documentary. If you're a favorite then you're a shoo in if not fagedaboutit.

Good luck, regardless.

There's a youtube channel I've watched a few times, "Life after Layoff", not sure if he's reputable or what, but he says he's a former HR recruiter. Again, can't vouch for him, but if you have nothing else better to do, it might be worth a spin through his videos to see what he has to say. [I believe he's on LinkedIn also, under Brian Creely.]

Having a proud dad moment. My 16 year old daughter is behind in school. She is distance learning and got far behind. So as one small part, I help where I can. She was hung up on math, currently doing quadratic equations.

So I relearned all this again and today she had her break through moment where the numbers and equations made sense. We ended up racing each other through questions and had a blast.

We both made a couple mistakes and when going back through, she picked up what went wrong and quickly rectified it.

So, super proud!

1 - Fixed my wife's fine (as in super fine wire, easily broken but they are also fine as in nice lights too) mini LED Christmas lights for one of her displays and in the process one of my soldering irons stopped working (ok, it is going to be one of those project days I see...) but her lights are fixed now at least.
2 - Marinating a pork shoulder for dinner.
3 - Made a massive batch of chili to freeze.
4 - Checked this forum.
