What are you doing right now?

Just got home from work a bit ago. I was teaching my “class” lol. I have two lube techs who are eager to learn but management won’t let them do anything because we just don’t have a spot for them. They do come and help when they are slow though. Today one needed help with his brakes so I showed him the brake lathe again. His third time. It takes a bit to learn so I understand that. The other one stayed and helped too. I love teaching and helping people. Nobody else seems to be interested in doing it so I do it. So far they have it down pat brake grease on slide pins and on the clips and anti seize between the rotor and hub and between the wheel and rotor mating surfaces. Also it’s nice having someone to talk to because once I come home I have my parents and people that I text that I am friends with and that’s it. He said he is going to buy me a new hat in return for helping him I just can’t say here what hat that is lol.

Good for you. Your bosses should be very proud and value you for extra effort.

I used to eventually on my own in spare time learn every job where ever I was employed , though it was not required of me.

After time my bosses would always call me in and try to promote me. I refused many times because I did not want to supervise , but mainly didn't want to be responsible for others work and saferty. I would fill in as supervisor for them when they took off.
I just always enjoyed getting hands dirty and doing "the work." The satisfaction of going home knowing we made things better.

Of course working like that caused them to turn me into a part time trainer even as I stayed working in the machinery crews.

Training like you are doing , I assume you get great satisfaction from. I enjoyed doing that too. I just did not enjoy all the paperwork that came along with it in later years to satisfy OSHA and other safety guidlines. We worked with highly dangerous products and raw materials.
 
Just took a quick drive in the Audi. The dual-mass flywheel is shot. Replacing it with a LUK dual-mass flywheel and clutch kit. $1150 at Carolina Clutch. Also ordering a new rear main seal plus the installation tool, new Audi OEM oil separator and fluids.
 
Flipping through CL and bitog. About time to get dressed and take trash to the transfer station. Overcast but won’t rain, so yard work today, yesterday was very windy.
 
Watched a video on how to change the Haldex fluid on Volvo. Not too bad but not so sure I could tackle that in my garage. Guessing it's doable w/o a lift but all the harder, and a lot of the exhaust has to be touched (no fun in the Northeast). Been letting myself be tempted by XC70's but I suspect they are a bit too advanced for me (I did own 3 Camry's at one time).

Good deeds can pay dividends - my boss loves to tell how many he trained that went on to better things …
Now what color is the hat? 🤔
 
I finished watching East vs West 15. I watched a little, paused it to do some other things, paused it, and so on. The whole event was about 7 hours long.

Started my new job (same company) that has me out of town for two days worth of overtime. Crushed a workout and now some down time.

I love doing yard work when it’s cloudy and windy.

Impressive the amount of branches that can fit in green trash bin when cut into smaller pieces.
 
Right now I dump yard debris in a low spot in my woods. Old utility trailer pulled by my atv.

Right am listening to my daughter working on her personal finance class, working with mom on an assignment looking at car insurance quotes. Finding some info that implies I should do some insurance shopping, might save a buck.

Still regret buying the Corolla, stupid insurance cost…
 
I’m walking the dog and getting ready to cook breakfast on the griddle. Doing steaks later too on the grill or griddle. Have to run to the store real quick and get eggs because we forgot yesterday.
 
And also changed the propane cylinder on the griddle too. I forgot dad keeps two cylinders of propane on hand at all times lol. We still have a brand new tank from 2017 and 2021 on hand we are the original buyers for the tanks and we get them filled at the hardware store and also we pick up every cylinder we find at the curb and turn them in for new ones lol. Saves money that way. The oldest one we have found has been dated 1977 and the oldest one we have right now that we got in an exchange is 1981. I thought they had a restriction on the age of the cylinder but apparently not.
