What are you doing right now?

So what do you do if you don’t get a flight back to Newark to pick up your car?
I live in Virginia Beach.

However, I am "based" in Newark. That is actually where I report for work. So, all my flight schedules begin and end here. Tomorrow, I begin a 4 day schedule that had me going to ORD, LAX, DEN, IAH, ORD then back to EWR.

Ordinarily, I would fly up. However, I watch the weather, too. I knew that the flight from ORF (Norfolk, VA) to EWR this afternoon would cancel, and it did. I drove up to beat the weather and be able to go to work tomorrow.

The downside of course, is on Sunday, my car is here, and I'll have to drive it home. Sucks. However, failing to show up for work is not an option for me, personally. It's an integrity thing.

My work schedule and flights have already been modified - but that's another story.

Now back to working.

Oh and AutoMechanic, remember: "Shave and a haircut for me" is the universal forklift operator communication horn beep song.

I also forgot to lower the forks here but the good thing is that nobody cares. I should have put the forks all the way down to the ground.

Oh ok very cool I have heard of pilots being based out of other places I figured that’s what it was. I would hate driving in that traffic I’ve been to New Jersey before just not Newark it was Elizabeth.

Same thing lol 🙂

(Elizabeth = Union County. Newark = that is New Jersey's largest city and it's also Essex County. for a while either it or Hoboken New Jersey where the car theft capital of America and I believe had the title of most homicides for many years as well, or at least in the top three with Chicago. Newark is no longer the 'hood, maybe some isolated pockets but there's so much real estate being developed there you wouldn't recognize it. Still a High Murder Area.)

What brought you to Elizabeth?

Do you have to fly in this tonight?

I'm going to defrost the car again.

The weather is beginning to become the topic of conversation here at work and it sure is distracting me.

AutoMechanic THIS is what Forks Down looks like. Always do this before leaving your Fork unattended.

Good tip there for sure that’s the last thing I want to do if I was to operate one again I’d have it fall.

I don't have to fly tonight. Most flights tonight are canceled*

My schedule for tomorrow has been modified.

*We manage these weather events and cancel flights pro-actively. Better to plan in advance for where airplanes end up, rather than have them land at some divert field, and lose the crews to duty time, or fatigue. By planning in advance, we put the operation back together more quickly and efficiently when the weather abates.

There are some critical flights (determined by several factors, including load, critical cargo, frequency of flights on that city pair, etc.). With the rate of snowfall, the de-icing fluid won't last long, so, those flight that DO operate, have to be able to get to the runway in rather short order.

The snow has finally started to fall so I just got the dog back in now I’m doing my usual looking at all my tools waiting on my new ones to come in to add to my boxes. And getting ready to bring my friend who works at the gas station some chili since she has to work until 11 and my parents had chili for their dinner.

Realizing that i really really need to buy clothes but i hate shopping, especially at this time of the year and i would rather go buy tools, oil or guitar related stuff.

The snow is turning back into rain and I'm driving home because we all left early.

One of my windshield wiper blades fell off.

Haha that happened to me a few years ago in my gf's Mustang. I was driving up the interstate to go see my dad for the weekend and it started raining. Man that wiper blade just totally FLEW!! haha!!:D
I actually had the wipers on intermittent with the blade flopping around.

Its just rain now.
