(3:30 AM) Just put an 8 lb pork butt in the Weber Smokey Mountain. I've never done this before, but having fun. My son usually does this sort of cooking, but he's AWOL this 4th.

Used an internet rub mix of paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, chilli powder, etc.

I have an iGrill with link to the phone. Humming along at 260F at the moment. Going to throttle it back just a smidge, target of 250F. The meat was chilly in the middle, so maybe a smig frozen yet. Moved from freezer to refrig three days ago, but maybe should have started earlier?

Is anyone else BBQ'n today? Please share your doings!

Going to a friends house who is having about 25 Corvette people over and he is doing burgers after the Sioux Falls downtown parade. We have a large bunch of Corvettes in the parade. Tonite we are going to my brothers shop out in the country and there will be a wide variety of meats on the charcoal grill plus lots of fireworks. Everyone brings lots of things to eat and nobody will go hungry or thirsty. I have 7 brothers and sisters including myself and it's always a great event. Almost like Christmas in July. :p

1.5 lb bone-in ribeye, Alton Brown 500 degree in oven style. Smokes up house and makes sure the smoke alarm is working., Cheesy or baked potatoes, green salad of choice. Maybe brownie for dessert. Ribeye will serve us at least twice before it's gone.

Hamburgers/tube steak topped with homegrown heirloom cherokee purple tomatos. Best tomato in the world grown in best country in the world.

Small gathering at Bro and SIL's.
It'll be basic...nowhere near as big as Taylor and Kelsy's wedding.....brother and I bought dogs and burger meat at a great butcher shop.
I made "Mom's Macaroni Salad", which is simply the best in the galaxy. I'm also bringing corn on the cob which I'll grill fresh.
We're also bringing bottled, adult bevvies. <<You always want to be invited back!

NEWS FLASH: Mrs. Kira just reminded me that the arrival time is 4PM...I thought it was 11AM or 1PM.
I was so hoping for an early and brief affair.

With the heat being what it is I may skip the charcoal and just put the steaks on the grill out in the sun and do a reverse sear lol.

The plan is to grill steaks since it’s not only July 4th but also my parents 34th anniversary.
However they are saying it’s supposed to rain and it’s supposed to be 106 degrees too so we will see.
