What animal in in my attic?

I caught this video in the attic on a Wyze camera. It's dark so what you are seeing is all IR.

There is a normal bed pillow in the background for size reference.

Looking at that again, it definitely has wings spayed out and what appears to be a long beak. Makes me think of a hummingbird, but never heard of them going into attics or barns and such.

Let us know what you find.

Definitely a bee/wasp/hornet type animal. Head, thorax, abdomem, six legs, and wings. Probably one of those flesh eating varieties. Sleep cautiously, Donald.

Encountered one of these past week or so at night when taking the dog out . Have seen these on occasion through the years . Usually at night . Do look like a honeybee on steroids . Fist meeting was 😬 .

The prior owner had a tee in the stack in the attic area and ran the vent for bathroom fan into that stack. When I pointed it to building inspector he said he had never seen it done before but thought it met code. (Or didn't know).
I don't know what the state codes are in NY. I do know the Southern codes and that's NOT legal.

its a wood driller.
or carpenter bee.
they are destructive so you want to exterminate sooner rather than later.
