My first time in France about 15 years ago. Bad case of jet lag. Was up all night walking the streets. Finally went back to my hotel at 4am, took a shower, packed, and checked out. Walked to the train station about 6am and right past where I was walking at 4am was an older man with a sad little dog on a cardboard box that read "merci" and a can for donations. All scammers.
