As much as I liked the Forester, the seats were a deal breaker. I couldn't bring myself to drop $20K on a vehicle that made my back ache in less than 20 miles.

Sat in an Outback and instantly knew the seats were 100% better. Took it out for a nice long drive (40ish miles) went home to think about it over night and work a couple dealers for price.

Got an offer for $22K + tax and license. Went down after the kids soccer games this morning and bought it.

Its a 2011 2.5i with a 6MT. Graphite gray metallic with black cloth. The salesman looked at me funny when I told him not to have it washed. I explained to him I didn't want their teenage lot guy putting a million swirl marks in the paint with their brush.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow after I get it washed.

+1. Love your selection of car and MT. This is on our short list when we need a new car.

Can't wait to see pics and a review.

Also whatoptions did you get? Trim level?

I almost got the outback but I didnt like the 6mt too much.
. the forester fits in my garage much better..
its an older garage and I had less than 4in of clearance with the altima rental. the forester has about a foot and is much easier to park. I really did like the car though.

My dad bought a 2011 Outback similar to yours in March and LOVES it. Many miles on it now with long trips and no issues whatsoever. A very good buy.

No options other than what come on the base 2.5i.

There aren't a ton of MTs out there. My dealer had this one on the lot,the other local dealers had 5-6 total.

I do like the charcoal gray, but it wasn't my first choice. This dealer just wanted to sell a car, they came in about $800 less than the others.

I hear you about the color choice. My dealer had my black granite metallic car and a plain white one available for the same price. The black was a $200 option, so I took it. GM's regular white is appliance white, which looks horrible no matter the car.

Amazing how color and transmission can affect the price of a car. Get the magic color and a MT, and deals can happen on a car that few people want.

Pics or it didn't happen!

Think you made a good choice. We ended up replacing our Legacy wagon last weekend, when my wife was involved in a wreck Friday before Labor Day. We got the silver gray, but our second choice was a graphite gray. Most of the dealers around here still have way too many light colors with taupe interior, which was a deal breaker for us.

Happy motoring!!

Very nice. My wife has a 2004 Forester XT and the seats are very hard. We don't take it on long trips...always gives back aches.

She has her eye on an Outback for the next car. Let us know how you like it (MPG and comfort on long trips).

Congrats. My next vehicle will be either the Forester or Outback but probably not for a couple of years. Love my current 5 year old Subaru Legacy.

Nice choice. Now get a clear bra to protect against the chips. I have the same color on my Prius and chips show up very easily. And so do swirls.
