They were playing Christmas music in the store already. It is going to be a long shopping season.

I'm going to try and get my shopping done early this year. I wonder if they will allow the use of the word 'Christmas' this Christmas?!

I've seen Christmas decorations/stuff/displays for sale a month ago.
It is turning into a perpetual season.
Halloween didn't used to be a season either, just a day, but it is about a month of home displays , now.

I was in wal mart too and their oil prices are still up there $23.00 for Pennzoil Platinum but i did notice that Motorcraft 5w20 was in a different bottle anyone know if its still conoco phillips?

Yup, Christmas [censored] has been for sale at most local retailers for at least a month. I guess its understandable as retailers know consumers are hurting big time so they want to get selling season revenue in their coffers as soon as possible. Still, its more stuff we have to walk past and try to ignore.

This is gonna be the worst Xmas for retailers in the past 25 years.

Almost every person is on a strict budget and watching every penny.

Frankly the whole thing disgusts me. We talked about it today, and the feeling is the same in the family. We know the real meaning of Christmas and it's not buying garbage at WuhanMart. We will make an effort NOT to buy gifts this year.

It kinda doesn't feel like it did when the Thanksgiving Day Parade marked the intro of the holiday shopping experience.

Christmas decorations in mid-October has been happening at numerous retailers for several years now, not just Wally World.

Obviously, there have been way too many folks running around those past few years, delirious with the 100% financing on their house, car (72 months, no interest!), boat, RV, six flat screen TVs (one for each room!), and whatever else they could buy. They didn't even notice the Christmas decorations were out before the Halloween candy was on the shelves.

I bet they did this year!

It is your patriotic duty to shop till you drop.

YES - Same here in Minnesota!!

I was in the automotive section and Chrisstmas music was playing.

Mentioned it to the Cashier and she was shocked and wes going to check into it. We both agreed and like it, but this is just too early...

Not sure what the [censored] Walmart honchos are thinking, but, there was a giant christmas tree as we walked into Walmart today to grab some oil for the girlfriends crown vic.

We're barely done with Halloween and not even started with Thanksgiving and already they are pushing Christmas~!@?
mad.gif
With all the job layoffs, the economy not worth a [censored],and such a uncertain future,it's pretty sick to just keep pushing the holidays on people so early, when it's hard enough to concentrate just week to week on what they are truelly needing to buy in their everyday lives!!

Yeah, Its piped in from the W-M home office. Everyone is complaining. Can't wait for breaks so I can escape to the Vic and blast some hard rock. Ive been trying to find out where a certain certain piece of equipment is and make it disappear or stop working. :P At the very least disconnect the speaker that blasts TLE. Can push page on a phone and leave it off the hook, but then nobody else is able to page, which could be bad if a Code adam comes up or something similar...

I suggest everyone call/email W-M and tell them how you feel.

The Pennz YB was still $12 for the 5 QT The Quarts were $3.57.

The Motorcraft 5w-20 was in new bottles and a new price of $2.87, no 5QT jugs in sight.

Good for you! The wife and I have had this feeling for years. We started out with simple repulsion (revulsion?) at the commercialism, and over the years have begun feeling manipulated by the whole thing. The reaction from parts of the family was not terribly good either, even though we have said we are fine with doing Christmas events, in fact we would like them, just not gift giving.

We now view all holidays as artificial, commercially created events.
