warranty companies fixing vs replacing

My house came with a warranty that the seller paid for.

It was a 1 year warranty on most items.

I called in a broken garage door opener.

The deductible is 75 dollars per incident. I paid the 75 dollars to have the garage door company do a 60 dollar service, they ended up replacing a plastic gear.

The warranty is nice for bigger items like my ac. Even if they give me the cheapest model possible it'll cost them more than the warranty Cost me to have.

Last year when they replaced my compressor all I had to pay was the freon, about 40 bucks a lb for 6 lbs I think.
If they were to replace the inside unit too it would be up to me to get everything brought up to code, get some kind of environmental inspection, get all the ductwork checked etc.
A nightmare.
Luckily all I needed was the compressor.
Beware all the extras that your warranty doesn't cover.
Good luck.

Well after some screw ups. The appointment for tomorrow was for some reason canceled. I tried to fix it and did but the ac tech already registered filled my appointment so now I have to wait till Monday unless another company they approve of can come out sooner.

So they aren't replacing it?

The ac company that's been dealing with it has now been replaced because they wouldn't honor their appointment. The warranty company hired another company to handle it and I just spoke with the manager of that company the guy sounds very intelligent and decent. Exactly the opposite of the other company. They will be here tomorrow between 10 and 11am

I hope the warranty company didn't just switch you with another warranty friendly repair shop that will find some reason to not replace the unit.
I am a Doubting Thomas after having home warranty for 15 years.
Anyway, good luck and beware all the add ons not covered.
