I notice another website I belong to has a bar that shows where you stand in the forum. I'm thinking that's a pretty good idea. I'm sure it only shows my bar to me.
In other words I could not see someones bar status.

Other forums call it "rep power." It's a tally of where others have taken the time to note that you actually have given contribution to the collective. Other forums its just a brag to show how long you have been a member. I am a "veteran" of several forums but it's because i signed up years ago and have long sold the truck(s). I come back to buy or sell a part and get all the benefits of a lifetime member. Some forums don't let you buy and sell until you have been online quite a while in effort to cut down on fraud too. This is a pretty close community and when there is misinformation the other members jump in and it gets cleaned up pretty quickly.

I was thinking it was a disciplinary bar that lets you know when you are pushing the limit of the forum rules.......?

Maybe I'm wrong? I bet some of the members on this board would have probably thought it was a good idea.

I think it's worthless.. I know I'm not the one who makes decisions etc, and this is not directed towards the Op etc.. but in my opinion the more you add to a forum in the way of making it "automatic" or to try and build some users ego the more distant users become..

The system here works pretty good, you get a personal note from the good mods here..or the bad mods however you look at it that's your on personal view.. As to stats etc when you put someone up on a pedestal the only good thing to do is remove that pedestal !! as well no one wants to be in a forum where few run the post, and theirs is the only opinion worthwhile...

A forum is a touchy thing, it can be the biggest greatest, and a little change can bring the walls tumbling down.. to NOTHING, and WORTHLESS

You would get a collection of knuckleheads who try to take it just below the limit, then back off. Not exactly the spirit of the user agreement.

It's the same behavior as trying to figure how much over the speed limit you can travel and not get a ticket.

I don't think a warn bar would make things any better here.

Maybe a "B S" detector would be more beneficial at times.
