SHO and I are getting set to road trip from Pittsburgh-ish to Denver for an event, and I'm dead set on getting our first gold plaque this year.
I've spent so much time working on the mechanical and electrical aspects over the past years that I've always neglected the visual detail. Hecc, we went to Carlisle covered in moss and dust. Now, I'm gonna spend all weekend cleaning her up in the driveway, inside and out. Buff, wax, new(er) headlights, glue the rear view mirror up for the third time, clean the tape heads, wash and brush my travel plushies, the whole 220 yards. But what I could use some pointers on is what to do when we get to the hotel, in terms of what tools and products I should pack, and the actual method of detailing. I'm not counting on having access to water or electricity there. But I am counting on having a lot of fun.

Pm me if you want some good restaurant recommendations or neat places to visit.

Car show?

Have a plan to remove insects and to fully wash and detail your exterior upon arrival.

My wife and I went from central Ohio to visit Mt. Zion National Park in Utah last week. When we got into Denver the smog was thick. The gas stations in Colorado and Utah seem much better at keeping the windshield service buckets full of fluid unlike stations back East.

Not much to read here but you'll see plenty of broke down semis west of Denver in the mountains: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/what-are-you-doing-right-now.334929/post-7633374

When driving in the plains of Kansas and eastern Colorado expect high winds.

Can I ask what car show? The biggest is Cars and Coffee in Lafayette the first Sat. of every month. Easily exceeds 500 cars in good weather. Full gambit of cars represented. Last month had a half dozen high dollar Ferraris as well as numerous, Lambos, McLaren's, and scads of Porsches including an occasional 918 or two. Lots of older cars as well. Arrive early for good parking. After the show head up to the Shelby American Collection in Boulder (only open on Saturdays)

In addition to above detailing recommendations I'd suggest some TW Bug & Tar remover and a good applicator for it. Also lots of towels (Motels/hotels frown when you use theirs.

That all sound really cool! It's just the SHO club, won't be sticking around long enough to do much on my own but I'll leave some time on the way to and fro.

I've used the TW bug stuff before and thought it was awfully slimy. Guess I never tried to wipe it dry but a power washer really doesn't do much to it.

I hear SHO and I think Mustang or Taurus. Tape heads? I assume cassette and this isn't about critical systems but aesthetics. Pics, pics, pics?
