Anyone have any success stories with it? Local shop quoted 300 to do it on my 13 equinox 2.4. It has 115k. Its got a miss at warm start that will go away after a min or two. I did coils and plugs with no change. Im sure the valves are caked. It does drink about 1qt every 3k. Maybe the cleaning will help consumption.
Walnut blasting valves

Just got a 2017 Equinox. Along with changing air filter, cleaning MAF, cleaning throttle body, changing diff and xfer lube, and transmission fluid, I did a CRC Intake Valve and Turbo cleaner procedure on it to stay on top of any buildup on the intake valves.
One thing you might look at is taking the engine cover off, reinstalling the air intake plenum while leaving the clean side PCV hose removed and run the engine and place a piece of paper up against the clean side port at the valve cover and see if it has suction enough to hold the paper. If not, then interval PCV system is clogged. That will require a intake manifold removal. The PCV port is a small opening in the head between cylinders 2 and 3. GM TSB is to use a 1/16th drill bit to clean it out. A stiff wire might work also..

I did the crc spray and some valvoline fuel inj service from my work. I havent done the orifice check yet. Does the paper go on the valve cover side?
I suggested running pea based fuel cleaner and crc ivd gdi cleaner
$300 for a walnut blasting sounds like a steal. Does that include the parts and labor to R&R the intake manifold and an oil change? Doesn't seem like it.
No oil change but includes new intake mani gasket. He said my intake is barely a hour to pull. Do i need a oil change after that?

Yeah, that does sound a little on the cheap side. But I am not up to date on costs of such things.

If it were me, after a procedure like that I would seriously consider doing an oil change.

At VW and BMW, we never did a Walnut blast without an oil change after. Always made sense to me.

It works. It's a maintenance item on the old BMW N54 engine (every 40k miles IIRC) due to the design of the PCV system.

$300 is an excellent price for walnut blasting the intake valves. You WILL see an improvement in performance afterwards.
