I think grampi knows what he is talking about. There are several things that should be a priority to be made here or at least have the capability to do so and since oil is a major strategic item, there should be a priority for it. The same goes for some of the most important medications to mankind, antibiotics. Many are if not all either wholly made or main ingredients made in other countries and in those that are not the most trustworthy. There are things that should be if the utmost importance made here, forget about a global market.there are some things that are of utmost importance and many don't seem to care.
Here’s the issue: like so many other items it’s a race to the bottom on costs. At one time Puerto Rico was one of the largest sources of pharmaceutical manufacturing due to tax credits. Tax credits were not renewed. Big Pharma looked elsewhere to source raw materials and finished product. That’s why our medical supply line is in shape it is.

We are using "their" oil before we are using "our" oil for the most part...

You're using the wrong metric.
Would you feel safe running ST for the 10K miles that my IOLM allows?
I sure wouldn't.
How much shear do these cheap oils experience?
What is the content of the more expensive adds, like moly?
Finally, the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
If you think it's worth saving a few bucks a jug using bottom dollar oil, then have at it.
I personally don't.
I've been using it for decades in all of my vehicles, including my motorcycles, which are much harder on oil than any passenger car engines. That's proof enough for me that it works just fine...

Why are you even on this site then if your attitude is like this?
I have attitude because I think boutique oils are nothing but fluff? I have decades of experience using ST with excellent results. I suppose that means nothing to you...

I actually learned something one this thread and might actually order a jug for my next oil change on my Honda Passport.

Motorcycles I'm a firm believer of using Motul double ester. Only because the extreme environments I put my bikes through. I've punched holes in cases and had bent leaking radiators so I need the extra film protection it offers. Also it is available almost everywhere and cheap.

For the most part I do agree with you though. Some of these oils are over the top with pricing.

OK - we are WAY off course here.

The thread started with a simple (albeit inane) quest; Is Walmart no longer selling ST oils?

OP, if your local WM is low on lubes, then you should ask the department manager what's going on at that local store. If you have concern that WM is ceasing the marketing of ST lubes at a corporate level, then you should contact their regional or national marketing team and ask. Why you would even begin to believe that we BITOGer have any insight into WM marketing strategy is, well, foolish.

End of thread. Locked.
