So, my local megastore seems to have a problem understanding proper inventory. They are constantly out of Mobil 1 5w30 High Mileage. They have plenty of 10w30 and other grades but can't seem to keep the most popular weight in stock. I'm sure whoever orders inventory hasn't a clue about what grades of motor oil are most common.
Anyway, so that I would quit wasting trips there, I decided to try Walmart online. I entered this same store as my home store and entered my order for two jugs on Saturday morning at about 0800. I received a near immediate confirmation of my order (great!) and a note that it was expected to be ready at 1220 that day (super!) but was cautioned NOT to come to the store until I received an email indicating that my order was ready. Errr...OK. So, after not hearing anything by Sunday morning, 24 hours after ordering a "same day" product, I decided to give Customer Service chat a try. This was pretty comical. It was obvious that this "service" had been sublet offshore as the English syntax was continuously jumbled. After 30 minutes and not getting anywhere, I finally asked this "customer service rep" if he could compensate me for my trouble. At first he denied having this authority but after checking he was able to provide a 10% discount. $5 but at least we're getting somewhere!
I write this Monday evening after having received a note from Walmart that there's been a "problem" with my order and that it will be another 3-5 days until it can be fulfilled. The price is now down to $22.92 per jug. And, we're really sorry your order has been delayed. Hmmmm...a while back I ordered a case of Mobil 1 from Costco and it arrived from California to Indy 3 days later, freight-free, at a lower price. Unfortunately, they don't carry HM.
